My lizard bit me. Actually, so did my kitchen floor

I have seen examples of what a bearded dragon can do if they bite a person. Puff never seemed aggressive so I never really worried about it, but I hand fed him a piece of carrot last week and he dropped it, so I reached down to retrieve it when he lunged at my hand — I am assuming because he thought I had another piece of carrot. It happened lightning fast. I was amazed at how fast he could move.
He didn’t draw blood, but did take off a small piece of skin and now, I am a little more cautious. I have seen him grab bugs, worms and his greens. He is an aggressive eater and I don’t want him aggressively feeding on me.
Right now, we are kind of scrambling to get bugs for him. Somehow, my roach colony got mold in it last fall and I lost most of the roaches. It is starting to come back, but not enough that I can harvest any. The grasshoppers haven’t started yet, so I guess I am going to have to order some crickets. The closest place I can buy the crickets is in Worland or Cody, and we have become such homebodies that we rarely get to either of those places. I do have a tub of mealworms and he likes those, so I guess we will get some crickets and tough it out for another few weeks until Rick can start catching grasshoppers.
So now for the bite from the kitchen floor.
When I do dishes, I end up making a dish Jenga. Things sometimes get piled pretty high. Early last week a glass bowl fell off of the top of the pile and literally exploded on the floor. Shards of that bowl were all over my kitchen floor.
I swept, I vacuumed, I used the crevice tool on the cracks between the planks, I damp mopped three times, and thought I had found all of the little pieces, the slivers.
But apparently, I didn’t. Right after the lizard almost bit me, I turned on my heel and my heel picked up a small glass shard, right in the middle of my heel. I ‘ouched’ my way to a chair, walking on tiptoe on that foot, and picked that little sharp piece out of my foot, then I put some ointment on it and a Band-aid over it.
So yes, I got bit by both my lizard and my kitchen floor.
While I am gathering greens for my lizard, I have also gathered a bunch of dandelions and will make this salad with them.

- Wilted lettuce
- 2 slices bacon,
- 1 head boston lettuce, (can also use romaine, dandelions or spinach)
- ¼ cup sliced scallions or finely minced onion
- 1½ teaspoon sugar
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- dash pepper, ¼ cup vinegar
Finely cut bacon, sautée in skillet until crisp, remove from skillet. Break up lettuce into bite-sized pieces. Place in bowl with scallions and bacon bits. Add remaining ingredients to bacon fat in skillet. Bring to boil. Pour over lettuce, toss until each leaf is coated. Serve at once.
