Riverside’s Empty Bowl soup dinner, fundraiser next Tuesday

The Riverside Art Club invites the community to an artful evening Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 5:30 p.m. The club is raising money for a trip to New York City and Washington, D.C. 

The evening, in the commons area the school, will feature an Art Show featuring the University of Wyoming’s mobile art offerings as well as works from talented local artists. 

The Empty Soup Bowl dinner will offer delicious soups and handmade bowls that may be purchased. 

The unique bowls were created by students for $10 each. Tickets to the fundraiser will be available at the door. 

 

Tickets on sale for 41st Annual Northwest Jazz Festival

Tickets for the 41st annual Northwest Jazz Festival concert are now on sale, with this year’s event featuring three award-winning acts coming to Northwest College on Tuesday, Feb. 27. The concert begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Nelson Performing Arts Auditorium.

General admission tickets are $25 and student tickets are $15. They may be purchased online at northwestmusic.org/JazzFestival, or at the door the night of the concert. There will be no advance in-person sales prior to that night.

This year’s featured performers are drummer, educator and recording artist Lewis Nash; vocalist, educator, and clinician Marion Powers; and saxophonist, educator, and clinician Andrew Janak. The Tuesday night concert will include outstanding student groups as well.

 

March dates announced for Food Bank truck distribution 

 Volunteers will organize and distribute food from the Food Bank March 9, 21 and 26.  Distributions at the Big Horn County Fairgrounds start at 10 a.m. on Thursdays and Saturdays and at 1 p.m. on Tuesdays. 

 

Homeschoolers invite public to historical presentations 

The Basin Homeschool Co-op kids invite the public to their annual Historic Presentations. 

The presentations will be at the Big Horn County Library in Basin on Friday, Feb. 23 starting at 1 p.m. 

Come see what they have learned. 

Light snacks will be provided. 

 

Garay welcomes Saira Idali

Alicia Garay of Basin welcomed a daughter, Saira Idali, who was born Feb. 10, 2024 at 10:53 p.m. at Powell Valley Healthcare.

Saira weighed 7  pounds, 9 ounces and was 20 1/4 inches in length.

Stephanie and Carlos Garay are Saira’s grandparents.
