Operation Snowflake blizzards local area

No matter what Mother Nature does as far as snow in the next few weeks, there will be a blizzard of sorts in Burlington, Otto, and Emblem.
Organizers of Operation Snowflake are determined to get a snowman/woman at every home and business in the three communities. Cool décor isn’t the only thing planned. Pauline Parker said there will also be a scavenger hunt. Participants will need to find 20 specific snow people. Ten of those will be in Burlington, five will be in Otto and five will be in Emblem.
Those wanting a snowperson can purchase one for just $10. Just call Parker at 307-272-1103. A crew will place them out. The scavenger hunt starts Nov. 25. Copies of the rules and hunt form will be available at The Burlington Place, Dry Creek Store and the Burlington Schools.
Those participating should bring their scavenger hunt form to the community Christmas celebration Dec. 2 in Burlington. A special prize will be given out.
The community Christmas kicks off at 2 p.m. with carriage rides starting at the fire hall. Riders will go to “Whoville,” the North Pole Workshop and the North Pole Café.
At 5 p.m., the community cook-off starts. Entries may be in a crock pot, stock pot or InstaPot. The categories are sweets, chili, potatoes, noodles, soup or this and that. Attendees may vote for their favorite.
Christmas caroling, the lighting of the town hall tree and the honor tree is at 6 p.m., followed by a lighted Christmas parade at 6:30 p.m.
Parker may also be contacted at 307-272-1103 to volunteer or to enter the cook off.
