Baseball season has begun and the Otto Rattlers are hoping to start hitting their stride. The minors are 2-2 with loses to Greybull and Lovell and wins against Thermopolis and in the rematch against Greybull.

On Saturday at the Rally on the Mound in Greybull, the minors pulled off a 6-0 win. Cruz Allen, Luke Worthen and Hyrum Hancock all scored. Hancock got a double and drove in Allen and Worthen for two RBIs. In the second inning, Beau Davidson scored after being walked and in the third inning, Allen hit a double, plating Adalyn Winters, and later scored himself. Allen pitched the first two innings and A. Winters closed out the game.

“I was pleased with the improvement that the minors showed,” said Coach Janalee Call. “They lost to Greybull the first time they played, but they totally dominated them in this last game. The kids have worked hard and it has paid off. I am very proud of them!”

The majors are 1-4 with a win against Thermopolis and losses to Greybull Red and Greybull Blue, another loss Saturday to a combined Red-Blue team and to Lovell.  They started the first inning strong with runs by Tuck Neves, Jax Morgan, Raiden Andrew and Gage Tolman who all hit and eventually scored. Brigham Winters made it to first on a third strike that was dropped and later scored.

“Defensively, our first inning was rough. We couldn’t get outs when we had our opportunities in the first and they scored seven,” Call said. “We held them in the second but allowed two runs in the third.” The Rattlers were unable to score in the other innings, losing 9-5. Morgan started the game pitching and was followed by T. Neves and B. Winters.

“The team played hard and had some good plays. Jax, Brigham and Raiden got a runner out trying to steal home with a play they had planned and practiced on their own. It was pretty sweet!” said Call.

The minors and majors both played in Lovell Monday night, their only games this week. The Babe Ruth team played in Otto Tuesday night and will be in Otto again Thursday night at 5:30 p.m.
