The record for the most successful crop of beans grown in the Big Horn Basin goes to Gus Marcus of Liberty Bench, who has taken 60,000 pounds of beans from 22 acres of ground. This figures out to about 2,618 pounds to the acre. At the rate of 5 cents per pound it would amount to more than $130 per acre.

The snow of Sunday and Monday served to delay the harvest of the beet crop, but the men in charge of the harvest are determined that every available moment shall be utilized and they were not out of the fields long. It is estimated that about 60% of the crop has been harvested.

Heavy precipitation in the form of snow and rain last week prevented a resumption of the 1975 sugar beet harvest in southern Big Horn County.
