April 15, 1926
Wesley, the 5-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Hyatt, was badly hurt on Friday last while climbing upon a pile of heavy posts. The posts were toppled over and it is believed that one of them fell on the lad in such a manner as to render internal injury. He is at the Basin Hospital for observation in case an operation may prove necessary.
A number of people from Orchard Bench called on the commissioners on Tuesday and asked that they help them with the fixing of the lower road from the Dawson corner to the Wrigley-Spencer corner. It is assured that the work on the highway between Elk Creek and Basin will put that road our of commission by June and this other road will be needed.

Clive Stoelk was elected president of the Basin Volunteer Fire Department Monday night when the department met at the fire station to select officers for the coming hear. Mr. Stoelk succeeds H.F. Batenhorst as head of the organization. Reuben Reifschneider was named vice president and Arthur Batenhorst was chosen secretary. Dr. M.B. Walker remains fire chief.
Mrs. Nellie Johnson entertained at a family dinner at her home Sunday in honor of the recent birthdays of her two grandsons, Billy Stoelk and Craig Stoelk, and her brother V.P. Irwin. Other guests included Mrs. Irwin, Mr. and Mrs. Clive Stoelk, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Kreger and Delwin and Mrs. Jennie Reideman.

Visiting Billings Business College last Thursday were the members of the Basin and Manderson high school business classes and their teachers. Those who made the trip were, Basin instructor Pat Hartman, Becky Batenhorst, Nancy Eckerdt, Carman Spragg, Donette Bonney, Lynn Craft, Ann Williams, Cindy Cullison, Kay Rubis, Debbi Vigil, Shelley Godfrey, Sheri Curtiss and Manderson instructor Martha Paxton.
The Lucky Clover 4-H club elected the following officers at their last meeting; Julie McMahon, president; Tammy Mattis, vice president; Marcia Craft, secretary-treasurer; and Lynn Kraft reporter.

Riverside High School scholars finished second among small schools at the state academic challenge meet at Casper College last weekend. Members of the team are: Chad Schell, Lisa Frame, Julie Stidolph, and Alex Nauman.
The following Burlington Students have been named to the third quarter 4.0 honor roll: Megan Garza, Harry McNiven, Lindsey Carrizales, Ronda Cauffman, Ryan Cauffman, Whitney Neves, Thomas Tolman, Victoria Winters, Charles Cauffman, Scott Davidson, Maria McNiven, Amanda Cauffman, Phillip Davidson, Rachael Davidson, Nathan George, Bethany Howard, Charee Neves, Heidi Rasmussen, Briana Coble, Ross Davidson, Brandon Jensen, Courtney Neves, and Tara Wiles.
Hannah Irvine was among18 students from Ricks College who competed in the national agriculture contests held in Bismarck N.D. Irvine qualified to compete in the nationals in the areas of college bowl, agriculture business management and agribusiness administration.
