April 22, 1926
Mr. Dave Johnson, who has charge of the work on repairing the Basin-Hyattville road, gives us assurance the road will be passable by Saturday although it may not be in first-class condition by that time. This will be mighty good news for those who will want to get out the Paintrock for a Sunday outing.
Wesley, the 5-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Hyatt, is still at the Basin Hospital, but is reported as quite a little better than a week ago.
They are doing things out there at the golf links. They have built a splendid road leading from the highway up to the bench on the west of the poor farm, where the first tee is located. This road leads easily to the bench and is substantially constructed.

Efforts to organize an aerie of the Fraternal Order of Eagles are being made in Basin and Greybull, it was disclosed this week. The new lodge, if successfully established, would be located in Basin. One hundred fifty charter members are being sought. Many of Basin’s most prominent citizens already have signed the rolls.
The issuance of automobile license plates in Big Horn County thus far in 1951 considerably exceeds last year’s figures, it was revealed Wednesday by License Deputy Shirley McLaughlin. A total of 3,215 passenger auto plates have been issued to date, which is well over 100 in advance of last year’s figure of April 18. Truck plates issued amount to nearly 200 more than April 19, 1950, totaling 1,738.

Scott Rickett, 11-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed E. Rickett of Basin, was killed Monday morning when struck by a rockslide as he and several companions were climbing in Dry Medicine Lodge Canyon.
Coast Guard Aviation Structural Mechanic Second Class James E. Thomas, 23, son of Ivan E. Thomas and whose wife Marie is the daughter of Owen Neves, all of Burlington, has received the Lieutenant Robert A Perchard Memorial trophy while serving at the U.S. Coast Guard Air Station, Port Angeles, Wash.
Larry Martin announced this week that he will open his newly completed apartment building at North Eighth and C streets for public inspection between the hours of 2 and 5 p.m. Sunday, April 25. The building contains 10 one-bedrooms units designed as federally subsidized housing especially for senior citizens.
Basin firemen responded with two trucks early last Thursday morning to a fire that had broken out in a house at South Fifth and South streets. The house, belonging to Carl and Betty Olson, was extensively damaged.

Burlington High School students selected six teens as members of the royal court at last week’s prom: duke and duchess, Chance Nelson and Lindsey Carrizales; king and queen, Yasutaka Ogusi and Melinda Cook; prince and princess, Whitney Neves and Victoria Winters and crown bearers Nicholas Carrizales and Mikayla Cook.
Riverside High School FCCLA members Laura Holloway, Catrina Olson, Nicole Jares and Jamie Jares, accompanied by advisor Lynette Anderson, attended the state FCCLA convention held in Douglas.
