Messrs. C.F. Johnson and H.H. Sandmann of the Great Western Sugar Company came over from Lovell on Thursday of last week. Mr. Johnson said the crop was in excellent condition and the best field of beets in the county was that of Mr. Elmer Wiley.
Sealed bids will be received until July 25th for the transportation by motor truck of approximately 25 school children within our district to and from the Basin Schools each school day. The truck must be so constructed that the children need not suffer from exposure under any kind of weather.

The fronts of several business buildings along Fourth Street have been altered recently to present a new appearance to the public. The windows and entrances of both the Stockman and Cheerio bars have been redesigned and trimmed in a modern manner. The lobby of the Wigwam Theatre has received a new coat of paint and so has the exterior of the building front. A candy case will soon be installed in the lobby. The front of the Golden Rule also has been repainted.
The Bethel quartet representing the Baptist Camp Bethel in the Big Horns, consisting of Mary Ann Reed, Virginia Howell, Kenneth Lamb and Ronald McKimley, all of Sheridan and Paul Pritiz, pianist, of Boston, with “Shel” Helsley, pastor of the Cody Baptist Church will give a special service in Basin.

Avery T. Jones, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Jones, of Basin, has been selected to participate in the “America’s Youth in Concert” 1974 program. Avery has been selected to play an instrument in the concert band and will depart on July 11 for Rome.
Miss Nancy Joan Davis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Davis, of Basin, and bride-elect of SPL 5 Donald Riley, was honored Monday evening at a bridal shower at the parlors of the First Baptist Church.
The Basin Jadettes cleared another hurdle on their way to the state tournament when they edged out the visiting Powell Royals team 5-4 at Henderson field Friday night. With Mary Raffl as playing coach-manager, the Jadettes include Jill Eckerdt, Jeri Black, Rhonda Hallcroft, Sandy Coronado, Yoly Coronado, Janice Buttz, Lori Nelson, Robyn Herzog, Becky Batenhorst, Lynelle Galasso, Joyce Eckerdt, Georgia Sova, Janice Shimogaki and Cindy Werner.

Holly Webb, whose travel experiences before May 1999 had included just the states that border Wyoming, got a whirlwind tour of Europe as a member of the choir for Wyoming Ambassadors of Music.
The Americans baseball team includes: Mark Grisham, James Willert, Johnny Chestnut, Tase Acton, Brandon Nyberg, Ray Grisham, Darryl Coronado, Alex (no last name available), Amanda Willert and Frankie Patina.
The Patriots team includes: George Garay, Daniel Bresch, Travis Breasach, Shannon Schell, Caleb Frame, T.J. VanderPloeg, Alex Olsen, Scott Nauman, R. J. Lemay, Crystal Newton, Mario Garay.
The Bat Benders girls fast-pitch softball team consists of Candice Chapman, Kristen Lindsey, Tabby Hallcroft, Sheena How, Tryssta Hallcroft, Jessica Holloway, Emily Koller, Piper Menke, Jaci Heny Teri Trautwein and Missy Heny.
