Over the last few days, a number of the largest turkey buyers in the United States have been in Basin to deal for the turkeys of this territory. On account of tremendous losses last Thanksgiving, all are conservative in their ideas of prices this Thanksgiving. Notwithstanding this, the Big Horn Co-operative Marketing Association has been offered a good price and will be in the market for all turkeys fit for market.
As was stated in last week’s school notes, a night school is being planned for farmers in Basin and its vicinity. The courses are to continue for two weeks, and open to all above 16 years of age. The courses to be followed will be determined by the farmers themselves.

Five persons escaped serious injury about 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon when the automobile in which they were riding going toward Otto from Burlington struck an icy spot on the road near the Frank Pearce ranch and went out of control into the drain ditch alongside the highway. The car, driven by Orin Heath, was completely demolished. Dorothy Allen, Lee Wardell, Carol Neves and Kenneth Jones were passengers in the automobile.
Construction of the new high school gymnasium got under way this week as ground was broken and footings poured. The Welch Construction Company began pouring footings Wednesday. Excavation of the basement, which will underlay the stage at one end of the completed building, is expected to begin early nest week upon completion of the footings.
Second Lieutenant Shirlee E. Aagard of the Basin Squadron, Civil Air Patrol [CAP], has been appointed assistant intelligence officer for the Wyoming wing of the CAP. Announcement of the appointment was made Wednesday.

Paul Smith and Larry Martin, builders of the six-unit apartment complex now nearing completion at North Seventh and C streets, have begun showing the apartments to prospective renters.
Homecoming festivities in Burlington got under way with a parade. Presiding over the festivities was Homecoming Queen Marla Wardell. Her escort was Bob Loveland. Betty Hernandez was the junior attendant with Mike Davidson as her escort; Carol Davidson was sophomore attendant with Jay Yorgason as escort; and Kerri Cook was freshman attendant with Carlos Garza as escort.
In Manderson-Hyattville High School Roalene Redland was homecoming queen Her king was Ross Diercks, attendants were Dave Tharp and Kathy Ilg; Ann Williams and Jeff Tharp; Steve Hyatt and Sheila Godfrey; and Rod Diercks and Toni Tencich.

Nominees for Laura Irwin Elementary Student of the Month include Chelsea Longshore, Shelby McKim, Ben Anson, Rachel Willis, Levi Kelly, Mark Spann, Josh Olsen, Katelyn Stricker, Ashley Vigil, Bobby Anderson and Kyle Stricker.
Riverside High School thespians are in rehearsals for their presentation of the musical “Godspell.” The cast includes Julie Stidolph, Drew King, Weston Graham, Reid Stidolph, Daniel Hull, Clint Cullison, Rich Robbins, April Riley, Jennifer Jacobs, Lacey Shelhamer, Katie Bock and Nichole Jewel.
