“The First Thanksgiving in New England,” an episode in a Pilgrim Pageant, with musical numbers, will be presented by the sophomore class of the local high school tomorrow (Friday) afternoon.

On Nov. 10th, the agricultural classes went to Lovell to watch Dr. Dallas, state inspector, inspect a dairy cow for tuberculosis. The boys also went through the Great Western Sugar Beet factory to see how beet sugar is made.

Among Liberty Bench farmers who were over on Saturday last with grain, clover seed or beans for the market were Wm. Werebelow, Wm. Moeller, John Fink, Chris Marcus, Fritz Grabbert and Harry Grabbert.

The burglarizing of the Burlington Club owned by Charles Perkins and the Schlaf Merchandising Co. store at Burlington early Sunday morning resulted in three men escaping with eight quarts of whiskey and $15 cash taken from the Perkins establishment. A passerby discovered the three culprits in the act of boxing clothing, groceries and other goods from the Schlaf store prior to driving off with the loot. As the bandits fled, Mrs. Bob Shilling opened fire with a shotgun. Mr. Schlaf, Mr. Shilling and Ralph Aagard gave chase, exchanging shots with the fleeing bandits, but were forced to abandon the pursuit at a bridge from which the bandits had removed a plank.

Big Horn County commissioners may call for bids on additions to the courthouse in Basin before the end of December. The planned additions include two wings, one on the eastside of the courthouse and the other on the westside. An elevator at the rear of the building is also being planned.

Despite their 7-1-1 record title, the Basin Bobcats placed only one player on the all-state team, which was announced late last week. Fred Werner was named offensive all-state tackle; he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Werner. Three other Bobcats and one Burlington Husky received honorable mention for all-state honors. They were Nick Wilson, Carl Olson, Tom Herzog, all from Basin, and Bob Loveland of Burlington.
