The ice-skating rink which has been built by the Town of Basin this year is a considerable improvement over last year’s facilities, R.W. Russell, town clerk, revealed this week. The pond covers one-third of a city block between North Seventh and North Eighth streets opposite councilman Bill Scott’s residence. The area has been graded and leveled to insure pleasant skating. Arrangements have been made for lights so residents may enjoy skating after dark. A warming house also has been erected. A supervisor will be on duty at the pond this year, Mr. Russell added.

A Burroughs L-5000 mini computer recently installed in the offices of Russell and Russell aids in many ways the conduct of their multi-faceted business. An automatic reader attachment permits information to be fed into the computer mechanically without an operator’s presence. The L-5000 was purchased largely for use by Alfred D. Wardell Contractors, Inc., and produces payroll records, deductions, depreciation figures and many other accounting records all ready for quick recall and rapid calculation.
