April 16, 1925
Possibly you may have noticed this, but if you haven’t don’t fail to do so. From the hill west of town one gets a real understanding of the progress that spring is making. But a few days ago, there was little or no green within the range of one’s vision. Then there was just the faintest suggestion of green here and there, as one caught the first leaves of the crabapple trees and here and there one caught a glimpse of deeper green. Before another week is over, if our guess is not wrong, a bird’s-eye view of Basin will show it fully garbed in its spring attire.
The new postal rates went into effect yesterday. First Class and post cards - 2c each. Second class- Newspapers and periodicals mailed by other than the publisher; 8 ounces and under 2c.

Betty English, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln English has been named valedictorian of the class of 1950.
Ethel Parkin, daughter of Sheriff and Mrs. Don C. Parkin has been named salutatorian of the graduating class of 1950.
Approximately 40 4-H club members and leaders attended the judging contest last week. Those placing 1-10 are as follows: Jim Crawford, Paul Jones, Phyllis Caines, Roberta Snyder, Darwin Yates, Lawrence Good and Lee Snyder, Dick Mercer, Ray Haack and Carl Jones, Melvin Clark, Marie Larson.
Mrs. R.O. Stenvick entertained in honor of her daughter Jean, on the occasion of her birthday anniversary. Guests included Sally Harris, Dorothy Ingalls, Sandra Walrath, Carol Sue Wright, patty Wheeler, Dalene Hinman, Georgia Lou Perkins and Kristine Smith.
Ralph D. Mercer of Hyattville escaped with minor injuries after the automobile which he was driving collided with one driven by C.C. Peters of Basin.

The Central Wyoming College rodeo Team is again practicing for upcoming spring meets following tough fall competition in the split-season schedule. Eight members represent this year’s spring team. The boys team will include Curtis Clark of Basin in bull riding.
Steve Pearl, of Basin, has been accepted for the Fall Term, 1975-76 at Treasure Valley Community College. Treasure Valley Community college is located in Ontario, Oregon. Steve will be majoring in fine arts.

The School District #4 board of trustees voted to retain all of its certified staff at its regular board meeting Tuesday night. Trustees also voted to retain the current administrators and set salaries for next year.
Dusty Lewis has been selected as the Riverside High School delegate to Wyoming Boys’ State. Kyle Tate was named as the alternate.
Nineteen members of the Riverside High School Paintrock FFA chapter attended the Wyoming State FFA Convention. Six Paintrock members, Teri Harrison, Hannah Irvine, Jessica Mullins, Clint Cullison, Chris Dunlap and Douglas Hamilton were recipients of State Degrees. Hamilton was honored as the Star Regional Farmer, which is awarded to the top state degree recipient in each region.
The mechanics judging team of Bruce and Preston Malson, Cole Hartman and Hannah Irvine placed first.
