May 14, 1925

Sheriff Burgess and Deputy Denny went to Manderson early Thursday morning and made a search of the Early coal mine, located northeast of that place. They were successful in catching two men, owners of the mine and taking a still. The officers after entering the shaft found a tunnel leading off to the old shaft used in former years. Crawling on their stomachs, they made their way through this tunnel for a distance of perhaps 100 feet, where they came to the old entryway, where they found one of the owners of the mine in charge of the still, seven barrels of mash and seven or eight gallons of moonshine. 

The value of purebred stock on the farm was demonstrated last Saturday when C.K. Mansfield, sold three carloads of steers to a buyer in Billings at nine cents a pound.

Miss Adella Boelens was chosen queen of the junior-senior prom held at the Basin high school gymnasium Saturday night. Escorting her as they led the grand march was Tommy Black.

Kelly Temberman, a member of the Casper College T-Bird rodeo team, won the short go-round in bareback and wrapped up an individual berth in the College National Finals Rodeo next month with his performance at the University of Wyoming rodeo last weekend. Timberman and four other T-Bird cowboys combined for 330 points to nail the team championship.
