May 21, 1925

The graduating class of Basin High School for the year 1925 includes: Vernon Beall, Minnie Berry, Opal Bruce, Constance Chatfield, Walter Clifton, Hazel Curtis, Jerome Deveraux, Cathryn Extra, Burl Jones, Wynona Johnson, Jimmie Keachie, Nellie Moon, Mary O’Neill, Carl Peavler, Nina Peavler, Mark Plasters, Charles Reidl, Harry Sweeney, Elma Taylor, Adana Tolstrup, Thelma Weintz, Agnes Wheeler, Ruth Wickwire and Paul Wilson. 

That was one grand mix-up they had on the Basin-Greybull highway on Saturday night when five cars were badly bumped and the occupants of two cars narrowly escaped — and all because the driver of another car, whose name remains a mystery, had stopped in the middle of the highway with no lights burning. 

75 years ago

May 18, 1950

Mrs. McIntosh, who is 84 years old and one of Burlington’s earliest pioneers, is the mother of Ira, John and Fon McIntosh, the late Mrs. David Henderson, Mrs. Chester Neves and Mrs. Thomas Dunsworth, all of Burlington. Eight of the Hendersons have received diplomas from Burlington High — six of Ira McIntosh’s, two of John McIntosh’s, five of Caroline Neves, and one of Fon McIntosh’s. This year two of Mr. and Mrs. Ira McIntosh’s sons, Duane and Udell, and one of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Neves’ son Alan, graduate. The 22 who have graduated in previous years are Ira, Mark, Marie, Carlos, Marion, Reasous, June, and Helen Henderson. Lavern, Gertrude, Byrne, Gordon, Iris, and Robert McIntosh, Miriam, Harold Dorothy, Shirley and Melvin Neves and Herbert, Lena May and Margaret McIntosh. The grandmother has attended graduation exercises for each of the grandchildren and expects to see the other three grandsons receive their diplomas next week.

50 years ago

May 22, 1975

Miss Janis Eckerdt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Eckerdt, and Teri Shimogaki, daughter of Mrs. Eleanor Shimogaki, received have received their bachelor of arts degrees from the University of Wyoming. Tom Faure, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Faure, was graduated from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Wash.  

Fred Werner set a new school record for Basin last weekend when he hurled the discus 128 feet, 7 inches during competition in the state class B track and field tournament.
