It would be utterly impossible for The Rustler to print the names of all those who spent the Fourth at Tensleep and the Paintrock—they comprised the greater part of those who spent the day out of town, and there were very few left in town that day. All report that Tensleep put on a big show and that the crowd was immense.

A delegation headed by Messrs. A.W. Webb of Hyattville and John Beall of Manderson came before the county commissioners yesterday petitioning that with the bridge out at Dead Man’s Gulch, the road to Hyattville from Basin be closed and that all of the money be put on the work of making a good road between Manderson and Hyattville.

One of the oldest residents of Basin from the standpoint of the length of time he has resided here is Frank T. Brigham who arrived here just 52 years ago Wednesday. Coming from Edgemont S.D. by team and wagon into Hyattville, Mr. Brigham bounced the rest of the way into Basin on a bicycle July 5, 1898.

Six more persons filed nominating petitions for County offices in the primary election on Aug. 22. Commissioner Bliss Bayne, Dan B. Cropsey, Frank Winzrenried and Frank Brown filed for commissioner. J.C. Attwood filed for county coroner, Mrs. Gertrude Cronin for clerk of District court, A.X. Johnson for county assessor, Fritz Winzenried.

Christine Griffith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.R Griffith, suffered a badly cut tongue Saturday when she fell while riding a bicycle. Her tongue was all but completely separated and had to be sewn back.

The Basin police department announced Tuesday that a drive will be conducted to clear town streets of abandoned, unlicensed motor vehicles. Under a local ordinance, owners of such vehicles must move them off city property and if they are not moved, the owner may be subject to the cost of having the vehicle towed away in addition to a fine.

A Basin youth, two Tensleep boys and a Powell resident have qualified for the National High School Rodeo Finals that will take place in Gallup, N.M. early in August. Tony Triplett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Triplett, won the bull-riding event in the state competition. Bob and Rick Quinn, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Quinn of Ten Sleep, former Basin area residents, tied for second place in bull riding.

A plan to improve the Big Horn County Fairgrounds in Basin is still being pursued with an eye to expand the number of events held at the facility. The master plan, which was developed last year with money from a grant provided by the Wyoming Business Council, envisions a number of improvements to the fairgrounds. Improvements in parking and landscaping are part of the plan with better lighting and more conveniences for people attending events, such as better provisions for recreational vehicles. A major element of the plan calls for relocating the rodeo arena, moving the grandstand and reconstructing the arena, placing it at the south end of the grounds and turning it so that it is oriented east to west, rather than the present north to south.
