Word was received in Basin on Monday morning that Irwin Burgess, known to friends all over this section as “Jack,” had been badly hurt at the Eaton dude ranch, near Sheridan, when a horse had fallen on him. He was taken to Denver at once, arriving there on Tuesday. Mrs. James Booth, a sister, left for Denver on Tuesday.
Mr. H.S. Looper, manager of the Great Western Sugar Company, was here from Lovell on Tuesday, accompanied by Mr. C.B. Berry. They were looking over the beet fields of the southern part of the county. Mr. Looper says they are looking better every day.

Ground was broken this week for a 14-room office and clinic building being built by Dr. Claude Raffl on B street opposite the Ralph Galusha residence. Martin Martinson of Worland has contracted the work which is expected to be complete in approximately 10 weeks. Dr. Raffl stated Wednesday that the new structure will contain the latest equipment throughout. The 14-room building will be a frame structure with white stucco exterior and a roman brick base. Large glass windows will span the building front and the architecture is such that it will permit attractive arrangement of shrubbery around it. Air conditioned, equipped with forced hot water heating system, the edifice will house a reception room, consultation rooms, three treatments rooms, diathermy and metabolism room, X-ray laboratory utility room, laboratory, secretarial office and lavatories for both patients and staff. The building is to be of the latest design and will present a most attractive addition to the community.

The Meadowlark Center in Basin is scheduled to close by the end of the year. The residential mental health center has not been cost-effective and is being eliminated in favor of a program to be based in Worland. The facility, located on the grounds of the Wyoming Retirement Center, was opened in 1996 to help patients make the transition from the state mental facility into the community and was working, but it never developed into the community-based program that was envisioned.
