Paintball Day in Lovell scheduled for Saturday

Whether a person is a veteran of the sport, a novice or has never tried it, a planned paintball event in Lovell on May 30 is for all interested people in Big Horn County, organizer Ali Wagner said.

Wagner, a provider at North Big Horn Hospital with a growing practice in mental health, has been a paintball enthusiast with her family for several years now and wants to spread her love of the sport to others. As such, she will hold a free Paintball Day at the Lovell High School football practice field Saturday, May 30, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Wagner said the event is part of Big Horn Basin DSM – Diversity, Socialization, Mental Health – Program and is for “anybody – all ages, men, women, children and families” with “any level of experience.”

“There will be strict rules in place so that nobody is targeted or feels like the play is unfair,” Wagner said. “This will be supervised by players that understand the NXL paintball rules, and if not playing respectfully and following the rules, they will be asked to stop playing. Anybody that has played in the past (unless using new compressed air equipment, not Co2) should leave their equipment at home and use what is provided for free.”

Waivers will be required for all players, and any players under 18 must have their parent complete the waiver, which can be done online at ShopPrimetime.net or by scanning the waiver QR code available on event flyers posted around the community.

Wagner said players wear layers on the day of the event, and all safety and rental equipment will be provided, noting, “We have different activities to support various ages, and even if not playing, come sign in for opportunities for raffle prizes throughout the day and a silent auction for a custom knife by Dr. Michael Hill and a custom sheath by Wright Leather, both from Lovell. All proceeds will go to building and supporting this program as it moves forward.”

Wagner said the hope for the event is to draw interest and encourage folks all around the Basin to try paintball and gain community wide support of the upcoming non-profit DSM Paintball program and playing field that will be located in Lovell within walking or biking distance for all ages to access “safe activities throughout the year again including our vision of summer camps and leagues. We will then be additionally looking for long-term dedicated field sponsors to donate financially and or support this program as a board member.”

Wagner said she would like to thank many local and national sponsors including Primetime Paintball, Butler Accounting, Hill Forge, Wyoming Wright Leather, Lovell Dental, the North Big Horn Hospital Foundation, Keele Sanitation, Yoder’s Donuts, Big Horn Federal and a few anonymous community donors. Some of the national sponsors include Grow The Sport Paintball, Paintball for Purpose, GXG, Dynamic Paintball and Airsoft, and a “massive thanks” to DEFY, who will be providing paint for the day of the event.
