Paxton and the Lady Rebels named to All-Conference and All-State teams in end of year honors

The Riverside Lady Rebels sent three girls to the Class 1A Northwest all-conference team with one honorable mention for the 2023-2024 season. Brooklynn Paxton, Johnna Clifford, and Vinaya VanderPloeg received all-conference honors. Varissa Olsen was all-conference honorable mention, just missing out on the top honors after a tie-breaking vote.
Paxton was further honored in her selection for the all-state team, garnering votes from almost every coach in the 1A division. However, Clifford should also feel proud of her accomplishments this season, having missed all-state by just one vote. Both Clifford and VanderPloeg were awarded honorable mentions as all-staters.
Paxton, a sophomore, set multiple school records with two 31-point games, 15 made field goals in a single game, and, in total, accrued 411-points, 280 rebounds, 166 made field goals, and 102 steals. She will return in 2024-25 as a junior.
VanderPloeg, a junior, found herself on some top five lists as well. She tied for second with seven steals in a single game and third with 78 steals in a given season. VanderPloeg is expected to return as a senior for the 2024-25 season as well.
With all five of their starters returning and one of their most productive players officially off the bench, a summer of hard work is sure to bring more excitement to the Rebels’ floor next season.
