Last weekend’s PEAKS to Conga fundraiser generated approximately $29,700 to help cancer patients in the Big Horn Basin with the non-medical expenses they incur while undergoing treatment.

Emily Reed, who led the team of organizers for this year’s event, said 152 riders left Cody around 7 a.m. and that no serious injuries or bike mechanical issues were reported on the 66-mile route to Shell. “The support crew only changed five flats,” she said.

The rider count was up one from last year, but did not approach the record of 167 set in 2023.

The annual fundraiser generated more than $450,000 over a 14-year period while it was under the direction of Laurie Stoelk and PEAKS, an acronym for People Everywhere Are Kind and Sharing.

When Stoelk announced she was stepping down, a new group of leaders stepped up to keep it going.

Reed said there was a “great turnout” for the Shellebration, crediting the vendors and musicians, the Shell Store and The Hideout for the use of the green space and Shell Store and Shell Bar for “fueling” the riders and community members.

Reed said the event would return for a 16th year in 2026.
