Powell makes all-conference hoop team
Brendan Powell was the only Riverside Rebels selected to the Class 1A Northwest all-conference team.
A senior, Powell was a bright spot on a Rebel team that went 1-9 in league play and did not qualify for regionals. He averaged 10.8 points per game, was the team’s most accurate 3-point shooter connecting on 25 of 92 and ranked third in rebounds with 93.
(Brendan) put a lot of time in last summer and was always the first one to get to practice and the last one to leave every day this season,” said Coach Scott Winters. “He was a great example to all his teammates of hard work and dedication. On top of that he was always respectful to his teammates, officials, coaches (both on our team and the opposing team), as well as players on the other teams. He was the leader for our team in points and was one of our best on ball defenders.
“We will miss having him next year, but know that he will accomplish a lot throughout life with his positive attitude, hard work ethic, and dedication that he has shown throughout his basketball career.”
