Princess and babies sought for Basin’s Lilac Days

The annual Lilac Days Princess contest is this Saturday at Washington Park in Basin. This year the contest is open to girls’5th-12th grades that attend school in Basin, Greybull, Burlington or are homeschooled in South Big Horn County.  Contestants are asked to write a short essay on women getting the right to vote in Wyoming. They will also be asked a question to answer. Sign up forms are at the Basin Chamber in the foyer, on the chamber Facebook page or at the practice. Practice is June 5, 5 p.m. at the Basin Heritage Commons (corner of Fourth & C Streets). All contestants must come to the practice. The contest on June 6 is at 11:15 a.m. at the park. Contestants should check in by 10:30 a.m. 

Babies 0-2 years old can compete for the 2026 Lilac Baby. Forms are available in the Basin Area foyer at 409 West C Street and on the chamber’s Facebook page.  Babies and parents must check in by 10 a.m. at the chamber table. The contest starts at 10:45 a.m. In addition to the Lilac Baby, medals will be given for biggest grin, sleepiest, toothy smile, chubbiest cheeks, etc. Babies do not have to be from Basin to compete, but the Lilac Baby must be a Basin resident.
