Raffle to benefit Northern Wyoming Treatment Court
The Northern Wyoming Treatment Court is a program that serves Big Horn and Washakie counties by providing a crucial alternative to long jail sentences for individuals with repeated substance abuse-related offenses, according to director Sabina Burke.
“As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, our operation is made possible through various funding streams, including grant funding from the Wyoming Judicial Branch, the Gordon and Edna Sykes Endowment Fund at the Wyoming Community Foundation, and the allocation of Opioid Settlement Funds, for which we appreciate the support of the Big Horn and Washakie County commissioners,” Burke explained.
But even with that support, the organization faces funding challenges which is why it’s now raffling a Smith & Wesson 1854 Level Action .44 Mag. The funds they raise from the raffle, which will be limited to the sale of 300 tickets, will be specifically used for the purchase of drug testing supplies and treatment services. Burke added, “We firmly believe that the Northern Wyoming Treatment Court offers significant benefits to Big Horn County and the surrounding areas by effectively reducing recidivism, fostering recovery, accountability and ultimately contributing to a safer and healthier community for everyone.”
