Random acts of kindness week is coming
Feb. 9-15, 2025, is Random Acts of Kindness Week (RAK Week). This week is internationally recognized. Kindness is defined as the quality of being friendly, generous and considerate.
Of course, every day we should be practicing kindness. At the same time, it is wonderful that Kindness Wyoming has a kit available to help promote it.
The kit will be sent to all K-12 schools. However, the kit is also available to families, businesses, pre-schools, home schoolers, etc. The kit is free thanks to additional funding.
It includes a family bingo card, classroom bingo cards, coloring sheets, postcards and a gratitude challenge.
The Kindness Wyoming web page states, “What does it take for kindness to spread in Wyoming? All it takes is you. As you go about your busy day, take a minute to stop and participate in acts of kindness around you. Smile at someone in the grocery line. Stop by a friend’s house with cookies. Write a note of gratitude and mail it with an old-fashioned stamp. Show your family, your neighbors, and your community what kindness is all about.”
A life can be greatly impacted by a random act of kindness, and it is easy to do. No need to wait for RAK Week or to get a kit. However, both are wonderful ways to teach others and us the importance of kindness.
If you do want a kit, go to kindnesswyoming.org and order it by Jan. 15, 2025.
In 1998, country group South Sixty-Five released a song called “A random act of senseless kindness.” One of the verses says, “With a random act of senseless kindness, unexpected hand to help remind us. A little bit of love is the cure for hate. It’s easy to give up but it’s never too late. A single step in the right direction, person to person making a connection. We can change the world that’s become so violent. With a random act of senseless kindness.”
Princess Diana had this to say about kindness: “Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you.”
