Rebels put one on all-state team, four on all-conference

Reece Whisenant earned a spot on the all-state team and Avery Clifford, Wyatt Daly-Patterson and Curtis Strohschein join him as all-conference selections following the completion of the Wyoming’s six-man football season.

Little Snake River claimed this year’s state title, outlasting Burlington in a high-scoring affair Saturday, Nov. 9 at War Memorial Field in Laramie, and the Rattlers led the way with six all-state selections.

Whisenant was one of the six-man classification’s most electrifying performers, averaging 131.8 rushing yards per contest and producing 18 touchdowns for a Riverside team that finished 5-4 overall and 5-1 in conference play. He was also credited with 214 receiving yards on 11 receptions.

Daly-Patterson shined on both sides of the ball, leading the Rebels in receiving with 25 catches for 361 yards and ranking second in rushing with 19 carries for 111 yards. But his biggest contribution was on defense, where he led the team with 125 points (60 total tackles, two tackles for loss, four interceptions and four pass breakups).

Avery Clifford was Riverside’s passing leader, completing 79 of 136 throws for 1,059 yards and 16 touchdowns to go along with seven interceptions. On the defensive side, he ranked third with 94 points.

Strohschein did a little bit of everything for the Rebels — he was the team’s primary placekicker, caught 11 passes for 68 yards and was a run stuffer on defense, leading the way with five tackles for loss and ranking seventh in points.
