Rebels ready to go for Trap season
Trap Shooting Season is upon us and the Riverside Rebels will once again be in the running. They will compete in 1A Conference 1 against Burns, Hulett, Niobrara County, Rocky Mountain, Upton and Wright schools.
“We are excited for another season of high school trap. We have four seniors on the team this year, and for most of them this will be their third year competing. We also have a junior who is in his third year of competition and a freshman starting his first year of competition,” said Coach Calvin Brown.
The Rebels will be focused on three things this season. “Our goals are pretty simple: Be safe, have fun, improve,” Brown said. “A lot of the kids put an extreme amount of pressure on themselves to perform at a certain level. While I believe that it is a good thing to challenge yourself and compete at the same time, as coaches, I have to keep reminding them to have fun, compete and strive to improve but remember it’s supposed to be fun, so have fun doing it.”
After weeks of practice, the official Week 1 begins this week and scores will count from here on out. The Rebels have many to thank as they start out the season. “I want to thank the gun club and the people that dedicate their time to making sure we have the opportunity to shoot. Brad Campbell has been huge in communicating, scheduling, and showing up to every practice to make sure things are in order so we can shoot and we greatly appreciate it. His dedication to seeing the sport flourish with a new generation of shooters is one of the main reasons it will continue on in our area,” said Brown.
