Riverside cagers defeat Ten Sleep
The Rebels travelled again this past week and went up against the Ten Sleep Pioneers on their home court. The Rebels were able to mark it down as a win, 57-20, and get some experience with some of their lesser familiar plays.
“We were able to practice several different defensive and offensive sets that we hadn’t run very well earlier in the season so it was good to practice that,” said Coach Scott Winters. “We used a zone, half-court press to practice our rotations and the boys were able to run it pretty well and getting lots of steals and deflections.”
“Avery Clifford had a really good game, almost going perfect from the field and getting six steals on the defensive end as well. Paul Stone also had a really strong game …he grabbed 10 rebounds for us and had three steals as well.”
When asked about things done well and things to work on, Coach Winters responded: “As a team I felt like we played aggressive defense and got a lot of steals. The only negatives were that we continued to turn the ball over too much, and we didn’t shoot well from the free throw line. We have to do a better job of taking care of the ball and valuing each possession.”
The Rebels will be playing in the Big Horn Basin Hoops Classic this weekend. Games will be played in Cowley and Powell. On Friday, the Rebels face Rocky Mountain at 1:30 p.m. and Worland at 4:30 p.m.
