Riverside football fundraises for military appreciation jerseys

Each year the Riverside Varsity Football team dedicates one of their home games to honor the military. This year the game will be Oct. 9. 

The team is fundraising for special jerseys to wear for that game.  The jersey’s sleeves will have stars on one side with stripes on the other. The money raised will also go towards a team hoodie and help pay for football camp next year. They are selling raffle tickets for ½ hog plus the processing.    

Riverside Middle/High School principal Matthew Jensen is also the varsity football coach noted that this year’s military appreciation game is the third one the school has done.  Past events included music, the flipping of the coin by a WWII Veteran, parade of military branch flags, and asking Veterans to stand to be recognized. Adding the special jerseys is another way to pay tribute to the Veterans as well as their families. 

The hog was donated by Alan Landis Sr. The processing of the hog was donated by Basin Processing. Tickets are two for $10 or five for $20. The drawing will be held at the first home varsity football game on Sept. 18. Donations may also be made directly to the school for the jersey project.
