Riverside Lady Rebels win 4 of 6 matches in Southeast 1A Jamboree

The Riverside Lady Rebels fared well at the Southeast 1A Jamboree this weekend kicking off play against the Hanna Elk Mountain (HEM) Lady Miners Friday Sept. 12.  The Rebels came out strong, winning in two, 25-12 and 25-13.  Next up they faced and defeated the Southeast Cyclones JV team, again in two, 25-15 and 25-13. 

The Lady Rebels third match of the day was against the Saratoga Lady Panthers, who offered up a bit more competition.  The Rebels won the first set 26-24, but lost the next two, 25-20 and 15-7.  

As the No. 2 team from their pool, the Rebels earned a spot in the silver bracket of the jaboreee.

Their first match Saturday was against the Lingle Fort Laramie Lady Doggers.  The Rebels won in two sets, 26-24 and 25-20.  The next match was against the Southeast Lady Cyclones, the No. 2 ranked team in 1A. They overcame the Rebels in two matches,  25-18 and 26-24.   

For the final game of the day, the Rebels faced the Lusk Lady Tigers.  It was a win for the Rebels as they took the Tigers in two sets, 25-15 and 25-13.  

Coach Cindi Smith commented on the Rebels performance.  “Overall, it was a solid weekend for the Lady Rebels. We showed growth in all facets of the game.  We served the ball more consistently and our serve receive showed promise.  Defensively, we got more touches on the block and continued to improve reading the ball.  It was fun to see our team work together and build relationships on and off the court.”
