Riverside plans Empty Bowls event in February

A community art show is planned for Tuesday, Feb. 27, coinciding with the University of Wyoming Art Mobile’s visit to Riverside Middle High School from Monday, Feb. 26 through Friday, March 1. Dr. Serita Keller is the curator of the Art Mobile.
The art show, which begins at 5:30 p.m., will be accompanied by an Empty Bowls fundraiser where soup, bread and cookies along with clay bowls made by the students will be available for purchase.
The goal of the fundraiser is to match the grant money that enabled the Art Mobile’s opportunity. Other proceeds will be donated to the local Food Bank. This is not intended to take away from local churches or other fundraiser events, but it needs to be done in a timely manner to demonstrate sincerity in matching the grant and meeting deadlines.
“We are inviting other art departments and the public to come and observe the show and or take part in the community show and fundraiser,” shared Dineen Mueller, art teacher in Big Horn County School District No. 4. “If doing so during school hours, please contact us to make arrangements as Dr. Keller will be ‘teaching’ throughout the week-long display. We hope to see you there.”
The Riverside Middle High School Art Club and students going to Washington D.C/ New York are sharing in this event to make it a success by producing the clay bowls and providing the meal as a fundraiser activity supporting the communities that are helping students finance their trip in June of 2024. It does have shared students in that educational opportunity and encourages members from the local area to participate.
Tickets for the evening event can be purchased at the door or in advance and will be available through participants of either the RHS Art Club or those student participants going on the trip.
Reservations and tickets purchased in advance will provide organizers with an estimate of how much to prepare.
