Riverside Rebels Football team is ready to play ball
As we gear up for another exciting fall at Riverside, I can’t help but look back on everything our team has accomplished over the past few months. We are heading into this football season with incredible momentum, built on the back of an outstanding off-season.
Our players showed up early for summer workouts, demonstrating a commitment that paid off immediately when we attended the Capital City 6-Man Football Team Camp in Helena, Montana. In Helena, we saw some fantastic competition. Most importantly, it wasn’t just our Varsity squad getting valuable snaps, our underclassmen stepped up and got vital playing time that will serve us well down the stretch.
That dedication extended well beyond our own practice field. In July, our players and coaching staff ran our Youth Skills Camp. Watching our varsity players teach fundamentals to the younger kids was a highlight of the summer. Having our boys step into those roles not only gave our youth someone to look up to, but it also allowed our older athletes to showcase true, hands on leadership.
A big part of our success comes down to the incredible assistant coaching staff we have this year. We are thrilled to welcome back Cash Duncan from last year’s crew, whose continuity and energy mean so much to these boys. On top of that we’ve added AJ Montanez, who previously served as the defensive coordinator in Lovell. Having these sharp minds and high motors on our staff brings an energy to our program and our players are already feeding off their expertise every single day, because “that’s how Ruff Ryders roll”!
We have a strong squad leading the charge this fall. Returning to the field are several key players: All-State selection Zack Kuntz, along with All-Conference players Eli Jensen, Corbyn Godfrey, Gavyn Cervantes and Brian Anderson. In total, we have 24 players taking the field this year 9-12.
This is a special group. Our upperclassmen are players who have taken their lumps over the years. They’ve put in the hard work, paid their dues and are hungry to take that next big step forward. These young men truly believe in our program and are eager to live up to our core covenants: Fearless in Competition, Disciplined in Preparation and Accountable to Each Other.
We know the road ahead is a marathon, not a sprint, and success requires focusing on the small things to improve every single day. That journey officially begins in Casper at Dick Cheney Field on Saturday, September 5th, at 3:00 PM as we face off against Casper Christian.
I couldn’t be prouder of these young men or more honored to lead them onto the field. We can’t wait to see our Rebel fans in the stands making some noise. It’s going to be a fantastic season! GO REBELS!
