Veterans and their families along with the public are invited to the Riverside schools on Tuesday, Nov. 11. The annual Veterans Day program starts at 9 a.m. in the middle-high school gym.

Elementary school students will perform a song. The middle-high school choir will also perform. The band will play the official song of the branches of the military: “Anchors Aweigh,” “The Marine’s Hymn,” “The Army Goes Rolling Along” and “The United States Air Force’s Off We Go into the Wild Blue Yonder.”

The school’s guided reading group will present the folding of the flag. Boys and Girls Staters will recite Flanders Fields and the Answer to Flanders Fields.

The American Legion Post #29 will present and retire the colors (flags). Veterans and families are asked to sit in the chairs on the gym floor. Each veteran is asked to stand when their branch of the military is called.

Principal Matthew Jensen said it is important to continue the tradition of recognizing those that have served whether it be the Veterans Day program or the Military Appreciation Game.
