Burlington alumni Dusti Schatz has signed a intent to compete for the University of Wyoming’s speech and debate team.

“I am really excited to join the community of UW Speech,” said Schatz. “I already know a couple people on the team and I’m looking forward to continuing my speech endeavors with such a great group.”

Schatz competed successfully on the Burlington High School speech and debate team this past year as a senior. Despite it being her only year of competition, she earned all-state honors in both Lincoln Douglas Debate and Informative Speaking.

Shelby Moore, her high school speech and debate coach, said Dusti “was an incredible talent on the team this year. It isn’t uncommon for seniors to earn all-state honors, but it is uncommon when the senior has only competed for one season.

“She showed tremendous natural skill and will be a major asset for the UW team.”

Schatz is a recipient of the Trustees Scholarship at UW and will be attending their Honors Program this fall to pursue a career in marketing.
