Security State Bank celebrates 50th annual golf tournament

Security State Bank hosted their 50th annual golf tournament at Midway Golf Course August 14-16.

“In the beginning, it was an invitational for bank customers. We changed it to an open tournament for all golfers probably 15 years ago. The goal has always been to offer a fun golf outing for our area golfers while generating revenue for our small, 9-hole golf course. The bank has donated time, money, and equipment to Midway over the years. A lot of smaller communities in Wyoming do not have the luxury of a golf course nearby, so keeping it open has been a priority of the bank for decades,” SSB Basin Market President Michael McCulloch said. He has played in the tournament for 28 years, this was his 11th year running the event.

Doug Crouse, SSB owner and chairman, has played in 47 of 50 SSB golf tournaments.

“Ironically, he missed the very first one and the 50th this year. A lot of locals have played in 30-plus,” McCulloch said.

Twenty-nine teams played this year. Ties were broken via a scorecard playoff. Results are as follows:
