Six G-R grapplers place in Riverton
Greybull-Riverside middle school grapplers faced their toughest competition season to date at Saturday’s Spartan Invitational in Riverton.
The tournament attracted 19 boys and girls teams, including contingents from Casper, Green River, Lander and Riverton along with Worland, Powell and Cody from the Big Horn Basin.
Leading the way for G-R were a trio of second-place finishers in Quaide Houchin, in the A division’s 120-pound class; Delta Craft, in the girls 111-119, and Kaislee Nyberg, in the girls 117-128.
Trenton Lowe, at 80B, placed fourth, as did both Jordan Potter (girls 171-181) and Tatum Triplett (70-76).
Wrestlers who competed but did not place included Ashtun Winkler (75B), Colby Thacker (132A), Cormick Thacker (80A), Haakon Craft (126A), Irving Rodriguez (115B), Jayden Waddell (120B), Jayden Winkler (126B), Kaysen Nyberg (100A), Parker Callier (90B) and Sawyer Triplett (135B) in the boys division and Emaline Smith (117-128), Olivia Wenzel (117-128), Ryan Whisenant (95-101) and Sophia Wilkinson (111-119) in the girls division.
G-R will host a small tournament Friday at Buff Gym, with Thermopolis, Rocky Mountain, Tongue River and Thermopolis planning to attend. Start time is noon.
On Saturday, the team is scheduled to compete at the Powell Invite, beginning at 10 a.m.
