Steven Wade Srygley

Dec. 7, 1947 - March 2, 2023

Steven Wade Srygley, Sr., age 75, died quickly of kidney failure on March 2, 2023, at Gibson Hospice Center in Terry Haute, Ind. He was surrounded by his wife, Jean P. Srygley, son Steven Wade Srygley, Jr., as well as friends and family.

Steven was born in Basin Hospital in Basin, Wyo., on Dec. 7, 1947, to Algar W. Srygley and Ella Mae Christopherson Srygley. He lived on a farm in Burlington, Wyo. He had two sisters, Rena Rai Bouter and Ann Louise Nichols, and brother Gordon Algar Srygley. All of his family preceded him in death. He leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins in Wyoming and Indiana. He attended the LDS church in Burlington, Wyo. Steven excelled in music, art, as well as football and basketball. He went to Oklahoma for his Barber College degree. He was called on an East Atlantic mission by the LDS church and was sent to Washington, D.C., and West Virginia and several other eastern states. Steven married Jean Purchase Srygley in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on April 12, 1974. They had twins, Steven Wade Srygley, Jr., and Betty Jean Srygley, born under the Covent and sealed for eternity. Sadly, Betty Jean did not survive.

He owned several barber shops in Salt Lake City. He worked at Ray Nicoson’s Barber Shop in Terre Haute for 12 years until he became too ill to work. Steven led a full and rich and complete life, caring always for family and friends at church especially.

He will be greatly missed and is a loss to his family, but we know he has risen to be with the Lord for eternity. We have many lovely memories until we join him.

We want to thank the pleasant helpful staff at Gibson Hospice and our church friends who gave rites, comfort, prayers, meals, and did so much for us to help with our grief.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023, from noon to 3 p.m. at DeBaun Springhill Chapel in Terre Haute, Ind. Service will begin at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery. His son, Steven Wade Srygley, Jr., will bless his grave. Online condolences may be made to www. debaunfuneralhomes. com.
