Stone qualifies for State meet at La Kohnke invite
The Riverside Track team contended at the La Kohnke invite in Powell this past week, facing strong competition despite being short-handed, with athletes out for state FFA. Even with a smaller group, the team had a solid showing and saw many athletes achieve personal bests.
Leading the pack was Paul Stone, who qualified for the state meet in the triple jump with a fourth place finish of 40-4.75. On the girl’s side, Mari Pratt earned a top-eight finish by placing sixth in the 400-meter run with a time of 1:05:04. Pratt has continued to be a consistent performer for the team early in the season.
“Although the team had limited top-eight finishes at this meet, several athletes showed improvement and continued to build momentum. The meet was a valuable opportunity for athletes to compete against string competition,” commented Coach Katie Winters.
The Rebels’ next meet will be Saturday April 18th in Greybull for the Bill Gerrard Memorial track meet.
