Town of Basin Activity and Beautification committees hard at work
Basin Councilwoman Linda Weeks gave an update on the activity and beautification committees at the April 10 council meeting.
Town clean-up day is April 26. In June, the Yard of the Month will return. The judges will be members of the beautification committee. A sign will be placed in the chosen yard.
The Basin Area Chamber flowerpots will be planted soon. The chamber ordered additional pots from Valley Hardware. There should be around 15 total. Businesses may adopt one for in front of their business.
Weeks worked with the chamber on two grants for a mural on the wall by the South Big Horn County Water District at the corner of Fourth and C Street. The mural will be similar to Greybull’s painting on Greybull Avenue but will spell out Basin. The project will start in August.
The committee proposed a plan for a red and black billboard on the north end of town. The sign would welcome people to Basin and include a list of businesses in town, with businesses paying to be included on the billboard.
The chamber has ordered lilac bushes to be planted at the welcome to Basin signs. The type of lilacs ordered should bloom all summer long.
Another project the committees are working on is a map of the town that shows where the businesses, parks, tennis courts, pool, etc. are at. These could be included in information packets that are often requested of the chamber as well as around town. Advertising will be sold on the maps.
