Town to be hopping this weekend

The town of Basin will be hopping this Saturday with multiple events planned. 

At 7:55 a.m. yard salers may pick up maps for the townwide yard sale. The maps will be handed at the Basin Chamber office at 407 West C Street. The maps will have a list of yard sales in the Basin area. The chamber asks that people are respectful and not go to the yard sales before 8 a.m. Chamber VP Susan Wynn noted that no matter how many times it is posted, maps will not be available until 7:55 a.m. the day of. People still show up as early as Friday to get a map. 

Also starting at 8 a.m. is Kids Fishing Day. This is hosted by the Town of Basin and the Chamber. North Platte Walleye Unlimited donated 24 kids fishing poles for the events. Admiral Beverage also donated prizes for the kids. The day will be at the town’s raw water pond behind the schools. 

Families are encouraged to bring their dads to the Basin City Arts Center Father’s Day Breakfast from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Biscuits and gravy are on the menu. Fresh fruit, coffee and orange juice, too.  The cost is $6 per person or $25 for immediate family. There is door prize of a $50 gift certificate from Valley Hardware. 

The grand opening of the Community Complex is starts at 11 a.m. Members of the council and the mayor will be cooking hamburgers and hotdogs. There will be tours and the opportunity for the public to buy memberships. A ribbon cutting is scheduled for 2 p.m.
