A tribute to Marie from a neighbor

Dear Editor:
Being new to the area, I found it fascinating to see this quaint, elderly lady walking her little dog in town. I soon took note that she did this on a regular basis. And by observing, you could see that she and puppy were best of pals.
So, one day I stopped along the sidewalk to meet her. Marie was very friendly and said I was welcome anytime to stop by her home to visit her and Gypsy. The times I stopped by her home, she was usually sitting on her couch with her Bible on her lap and Gypsy by her side. Her abode was humble and homey.
Marie told me that she had lived in that apartment for 23 years. She has seen much change come and go in town and now the town will see a change. Time has come that Marie is moving to a different address and so she will no longer be walking Gypsy.
I will miss not seeing Marie and Gypsy walking the sidewalks in Basin. I admire Marie. It seems like she’s just passing through this life and Heaven is her goal. The motto above her door reads: Only one life twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.
