Trying to find clothes the right size

I have a dilemma. As I have aged, my body has changed. I know that I am now on the chunky side, but the sizing on clothes now is criminal. 

Since there is not a very good selection of the nightgowns I like available here, I decided to go to the best place, Amazon. Well, let me tell you what I have learned. I have learned a couple of things and I have some brand new nightgowns that will be donated to a local thrift shop. 

The first thing I have learned is that the descriptions are extremely vague and they are that way for a reason. They can make it sound like just exactly what I am looking for, but when it arrives, it is not what I thought it was. I love T-shirts, and have even slept in them for years, but I prefer a nylon or satin gown because it doesn’t get wrapped around me at night. So I ordered what was labeled as “soft, silky, sleep shirts.” When they arrived, they were wonderfully soft, but were a microfiber cotton which grabs cotton sheets like glue. Beware of the descriptions. 

Then I found some really lovely gowns: satin, flowing, reasonably priced, a win I was sure. The name of the company was not one I recognized, but I decided to go ahead and order. I ordered them in the size I usually wear in T-shirts and hoodies. I was so excited for their arrival.  When they arrive,d I couldn’t wait to try the first one on. Apparently a 2X in other parts of the world is not the same as a 2X here. I couldn’t even get them over my head. Welp, I decided to order from a company I have ordered from before. I know their stuff still comes from overseas, but I hoped at least that the sizing was more for us chubby Americans. 

I found the gowns, the same ones I used to order like 20 years ago. I looked at the sizing, and decided on a whim to order a size larger than what I like in a T-shirt, thinking that I like a roomy sleep gown. After several weeks, I almost gave up ever seeing them. They showed up. I pulled open the first package and honestly I thought they had shipped me a squad tent. They were HUGE, but I would rather have loose than snug, so I kept them and put one on that night. Rick took one look and laughed. He agreed that they looked like a tent, but they are comfortable. 

I decided that next time I will stick to the size I usually wear. And a bonus is that one package of two gowns is actually the correct size and they fit perfectly. 

So beware when buying online; the sizing may not be the same as what one is used to. 

Baked Eggs in Rice

3 cups cooked rice

2 cups milk

4 tablespoons butter

4 tablespoons flour

2 teaspoons salt

8 eggs

1 cup grated cheese

Paprika and pepper

Make a sauce of the milk, butter, flour, salt and cheese. Cook in double boiler until smooth and thick. Add ½ of this sauce to the rice. Mix lightly then line well-oiled individual baking dishes with rice mix. Break 1 egg into each. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika. Place in a pan of warm water, bake in a 375º oven until white of egg is firm. Serve with the rest of the cheese sauce.
