Volunteers needed for monthly food distribution
The Food Bank of Wyoming Mobile Food Pantry is seeking volunteers. The food distribution is typically the second Saturday of the month at the fairgrounds in Basin.
The truck with the food comes to the site around 9 a.m. This is when the volunteers are needed. Site organizer Hannah Stinson says there are a variety of “jobs” volunteers can do, from unloading to putting out the boxes on tables, to sorting items for the boxes, to walking the line of vehicles to get names, addresses, proxy forms, to putting the loaded boxes into vehicles.
Stinson explained, “We can find everyone who volunteers something to do. Part of the success of this program is the hard-working volunteers present and past. We truly can’t do it with them.”
The boxes/food prep is from 9 -11 a.m. At 11 a.m. the food distribution starts to those waiting in the vehicle line. The distribution runs until 1 p.m. or when there are no more boxes.
The next distribution is May 10 at 11 a.m. Volunteers are encouraged to come at 9 a.m. Next month, the distribution is June 14. In July, the distribution is July 12.
Stinson reminds people that if they are picking up for someone, a proxy form is required.
