• Police Report

The following calls were received by the Basin Police Department last week (Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney):

May 25 —A civil matter was reported at the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office (BHCSO) on Murphy Street. A subject requested to speak with a Basin officer.

An officer initiated activity to assist the general public at South Fourth Street/A Avenue.

A R.E.D.D.I. report was received near milepost 188 on U.S. Highway 16/20.

A probation violation was reported on South Sixth Street. A subject was reported to have been drinking and left the residence driving a maroon van. The incident resulted in an adult arrest by another agency.

A civil matter occurred at Family Dollar on North Fifth Street.

A civil standby occurred on North Seventh Street.

May 26 — A domestic animal complaint was reported on North Seventh Street involving a neighbor’s dog that allegedly attacked the reporting party’s dogs in the yard. Follow-up is needed, and a citation was issued.

A suspicious person was reported in the 100 block of Fourth Avenue North in Greybull. A Basin officer assisted Greybull PD on the call.

An officer assisted the general public on North Seventh Street. A subject requested to speak with B2.

May 28 — A domestic animal incident involving dogs at large was reported on North Seventh Street. Two dogs were reported running loose. A warning, written or verbal, was issued.

A citizen complaint occurred on Wyoming Highway 30.

May 29 — A loose dog was reported on South Eighth Street.

May 30 — Gas smell was reported at the Basin Recreation Center on South Ninth Street/W Avenue. A strong natural gas odor was reported in the rear area near the offices.

An officer initiated a community relations activity at Riverside Middle/High School on West B Street.

An officer initiated a community relations activity at the Basin Community Center on West B Street.

May 31 — An officer initiated activity regarding an abandoned vehicle at Mountain View Cemetery on Wyoming 30.

• Sheriff's Report

May 25 - 12:23 a.m.: A traffic complaint was made on a speeding vehicle at Torchlight on Lane 42 in Basin. 

8:45 a.m.: Damage was reported to Road 16 in Emblem. 

10:38 a.m.: A lamb was reported out on Highway 30 in Basin. 

11:25 a.m.: A prescription bottle was reported found on Highway 20 South in Greybull. 

1:22 p.m.: Property was reported found on Orchard Bench Road in Basin. 

1:56 p.m.: Debris was reported as a hazard on Highway 14/16/20 in Burlington. 

2:02 p.m.: A R.E.D.D.I. report was made on Highway 20 South in Manderson. 

3:46 p.m.: Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office dispatch assisted the National Parks Service. 

7:38 p.m.: A citation was issued in a traffic stop at the softball field on Schitte Drive in Greybull. 

May 26 - 1:52 a.m.: A test 911 call was made at Road Nine and Lane 38 in Burlington. 

7:35 a.m.: A scam was reported on Road Eight in Burlington. 

1:23 p.m.: BHCSO assisted a citizen on Big Horn Avenue in Basin. 

3:30 p.m.: An extra patrol was conducted on Road 26 in Greybull. 

4:46 p.m.: An SUV was reported pulling a boat with a flat tire on its trailer on Highway 20 in Basin. 

6:42 p.m.: BHCSO gave information to the public on Highway 20 South in Greybull. 

7:13 p.m.: A citation was issued to a suspicious person on Fourth Avenue North in Greybull. 

May 27 - 1:33 p.m.: BHCSO assisted Probation and Parole on Brown Avenue in Burlington. 

8:10 p.m.: BHCSO dispatch assisted the public on Red Gulch Road in Big Horn County. 

May 28 - 11:25 a.m.: A small fire started from a vehicle was reported spreading into grass at Andy’s Truck Parts on Lane 40 in Basin. 

5:19 p.m.: Debris was reported as a traffic hazard on Highway 20 South in Greybull. 

5:50 p.m.: An animal complaint was taken at Road 39 and Highway 14 in Shell with concerns about horses’ welfare, a responding officer reported the horses in question were roughly 30 years old and eating. 

8:22 p.m.: A utility call was made to Lot 32 of Frontier Subdivision in Greybull. 

May 29 - 12:20 a.m.: A door check was conducted on South Second Street in Greybull. 

12:46 p.m.: An abandoned vehicle was reported at Big Horn County Fairgrounds on Holdrege Avenue in Basin. 

11:08 p.m.: An attempted burglary was reported on Second Avenue North in Greybull. A tall male with jeans and hooded sweatshirt was observed opening a truck door, nothing was stolen.

May 30 - 4:59 a.m.: A drunk male was reportedly involved in a domestic dispute on Torchlight Road on Basin, cleared with adult arrest. 

1:20 p.m.: A citation was issued in a traffic stop on Highway 20 South in Manderson. 

2:15 p.m.: A citation was issued in a traffic stop on South Fourth Street in Basin, 

4:42 p.m.: Two subjects were reported stuck in a white Jeep on South Trapper Rim on Trapper Creek Road in Shell. 

May 31 -1:43 p.m.: A roadside assistance call was made from Highway 14 in Shell for a tow truck recommendation. 

6:15 p.m.: A question was issued regarding four wheelers on the streets. 

ARRESTS

Rodney Wade Armstrong was arrested on Wednesday, May 27 in Lovell for a Probation and Parole hold, to be held three days. 

James Alek Higgs was arrested on Monday, May 25 in Greybull for three misdemeanor charges: DWUI, speeding in a 30 mph zone and open alcoholic beverage container, bailed after two days. 

Derrick Eugene Johnson was arrested on Wednesday, May 27 in Frannie for misdemeanor domestic violence, bailed after two days. 

Charles Alvin Ward was arrested on Saturday, May 30 in Basin for felony strangulation of a household member, bail set at $20,000. 

Vance Davis Woodward was arrested on Tuesday, May 26 in Fremont County Jail for a felony bond violation. 

Cecilio Hilario Zubia was arrested on Wednesday, May 27 in Burlington on a Probation and Parole hold, released after one day.
