• Police Report

The following calls were received by the Basin Police Department last week (Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney):

June 15 — Information was given on South Sixth Street.

An officer initiated activity at South Fourth Street regarding ordinance enforcement.

June 16 —A gas leak incident occurred on Matteson Avenue involving a propane tank releasing a large amount of gas.

A domestic animal incident occurred on C Street involving a lost dog that had wandered from its home address.

June 17 — A domestic animal incident occurred on U.S. Highway 16/20 South involving a 3-year-old female white French Bulldog with no collar. Reported missing in the Basin area, possibly the previous night after escaping a vehicle while parked. The reporting party requested to be contacted if the dog is found and advised she will respond immediately for pickup.

June 18 — An officer assisted the general public on South Sixth Street involving a reporting party experiencing mental health issues.

A scam was reported at the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office (BHCSO) on Murphy Street. A subject reported being targeted by a scam and requested officer assistance.

An officer assisted the general public at Richardson Avenue and North Eighth Street.

June 19 — A lost and found incident occurred at Basin Market on South Fourth Street involving a credit card that was left at the location.

A call was received to provide information to BHC agencies regarding two Hispanic males in an older white Chevrolet with Nebraska plates who stated they were selling cleaning products; however, the reporting party noted no visible cleaning products in the vehicle. The vehicle was last seen heading south on Wyoming Highway 32.

An officer assisted the general public at the BHCSO on Murphy Street involving an individual who entered the lobby requesting a place to sleep and was observed to be intoxicated and somewhat belligerent.

June 21 — A larceny incident occurred on South Sixth Street.

Suspicious circumstances were reported on Golf Course Road.

Suspicious circumstances were reported at the Wyoming Retirement Center on U.S. 16/20 South.

An officer initiated activity at South Fourth Street and B Street regarding agency assistance for highway patrol.

Suspicious circumstances were reported on South Sixth Street.

Rebecca Ekak was arrested for charges under 6-4-403

June 22 — An officer assisted the general public on South Seventh Street.

A utility call occurred on South Sixth Street.

June 23 — A civil matter occurred on Crescent Drive regarding water/property issues.

An officer initiated activity on Montana Avenue regarding ordinance enforcement.

An officer initiated activity on Greybull Avenue regarding agency assistance.

Suspicious circumstances were reported on North Fourth Street. The reporting party stated she was with an older, confused male in need of assistance, though the nature of the assistance was not specified.

A R.E.D.D.I. Report occurred on North Fourth Street.

June 24 — A lost and found incident occurred at Basin Boat Ramp on E B Street involving a possible lost debit card. An officer checked the area for the item, but it was unable to be located.

A domestic animal incident occurred on South Fifth Street involving a dog that followed the reporting party home from work. The dog is described as a brown Labrador, possibly a pit bull mix, with no collar.

A domestic animal incident occurred on South Sixth Street. The reporting party is out searching for a red Labrador and believes B3 may have picked up the animal.

June 25 — A scam was reported at BHCSO on Murphy Street.

A disturbance incident occurred on North Eighth Street involving a family disagreement. No weapons were reported, and parties were described as agitated. It was not confirmed whether the incident was physical.

A domestic animal incident occurred at Overland Express Mart on North Fourth Street involving a found puppy.

Shannon Ray Haynes was arrested for charges under 6-2-504(a), 6-2-511(b)(i)

June 26 — A wildlife incident occurred on Orchard Avenue involving a dead deer in a yard.

A fraud incident was reported at the BHCSO on Murphy Street. The reporting party brought in a package she believed to be fraudulent and requested to speak with an officer.

A domestic animal incident occurred on South Fourth Street involving a female German Shepherd that should have been wearing a collar.

June 27 — A scam was reported at the BHCSO on Murphy Street. The reporting party brought in mail and requested an officer review it.

An officer assisted the general public on North Eighth Street and cleared with an adult arrest.

Amanda Marie Williamson was arrested for charges under BMC 4.1.18, BMC 4.1.21

June 28 — A civil matter occurred on North Eighth Street.

A harassment incident occurred on Crescent Drive.

An information call was received at the BHCSO on Murphy Street.

• Sheriff's Report

The following calls were received by the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office: (Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the Court:

June 22 - 7:51 a.m.: A stray dog was reported on Highway 14 in Greybull. 

8:41 p.m.: A lost purse was reported to Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office on Murphy Street in Basin. 

June 23 - 8:58 a.m.: An officer assisted a motorist on Highway 32 in Emblem. 

10:23 a.m.: Smoke was reported north of Emblem on BLM land, found to be a controlled burn by Cody Energy Inc. near a pump. 

2:49 p.m.: Smoke was reported on Renner Reservoir on Road 49 in Hyattville, referred to BLM. 

6:30 p.m.: Debris was reported causing a traffic hazard on Highway 20 South in Basin. 

11:31 p.m.: A possible stuck vehicle was reported at Big Horn Basin Group Home on Highway 20 South in Basin, found ok. 

June 24 - 8:16 a.m.: A citizen complained regarding property access on Greybull River Road in Greybull, where the reporting party’s property was blocked by a padlocked gate. The gate owner provided a key to the reporting party and “everybody is happy.”

8:59 a.m.: BHCSO assisted Department of Family Services on Murphy Street in Basin. 

10:27 a.m.: A citizen complaint was taken at Shell Ranger Station on Forest Service Road 17 in Bighorn National Forest regarding shots fired from a moving vehicle, no vehicle or suspect identifying information was provided. 

3:22 p.m.:  A tan GMC allegedly narrowly avoided a head-on collision while passing the reporting party on Highway 14 in Greybull. 

10:25 p.m.: BHCSO assisted Highway Patrol outside of Big Horn County. 

10:48 a.m.: A citation was issued in a traffic stop at South Sherman Avenue and Highway 20 in Manderson. 

10:49 p.m.: BHCSO assisted Manderson PD at Highway 20 South and South Sherman Avenue in Manderson. 

June 26 - 7:58 a.m.: Two dogs were reported at large on Beaver Creek Road in Shell, officers were unable to locate. 

8:01 a.m.: Livestock was reported out on Highway 20 South in Manderson, cleared by patrol. 

10:55 a.m.: A suspicious man claiming to be selling siding was reported on Orchard Bench Road in Basin, the reporting party alleged he appeared to be casing the house. He drove a black Hyundai Elantra with county 22 plates. 

11:12 a.m.: Three Rivers Health tested their alarms on Highway 20 South in Basin.

12:42 p.m.: Three Rivers Health tested their alarms on Highway 20 South in Basin.

5:19 p.m.: A possible fire was reported on Horse Creek Mesa in Shell, Shell Volunteer Fire Department responded and was unable to locate flames. 

5:27 p.m.: A vehicle vs. goat accident was reported on Lane 39 in Otto.

June 27 -7:17 a.m.: Cows were reported out on Highway 20 South in Manderson. 

7:34 a.m.: Cows were reported out at Highway 14/16/20 and Highway 310 in Greybull. 

11:26 a.m.: A fire was reported at Mount View Cemetery on Highway 30 in Basin. Basin Volunteer Fire Department responded to the brush fire south of the cemetery, which only grew to a couple hundred square feet before it was snuffed, cause unknown.  

6:40 p.m.: BHCSO assisted Basin Police Department at Big Horn County Fairgrounds on Holdrege Avenue in Basin. 

8:54 p.m.: Harassment was reported on Road 13 in Emblem where two women were arguing over a horse and one wanted the other trespassed.

8:12 p.m.: The reporting party found an injured deer in their driveway on Sagebrush Lane in Greybull. 

June 28 - 1:33 p.m.: A civil matter was reported to BHCSO on Murphy Street in Basin. 

8:55 p.m.: A black calf was reported on the side of Highway 14/16/20 in Burlington. 

9:48 p.m.: Horses were reported to the side of Highway 14 in Shell. 

ARRESTS

Destiny Ann Devyak of Lovell was arrested in Basin on Friday, June 26 on a misdemeanor interference with a peace officer charge, served three days. 

Victoria Jasmin Hayner of Basin was arrested for a sentence in Basin on Monday, June 22, released after three days served.
