• Police Report

The following calls were received by the Basin Police Department last week (Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney):

June 29 — Threats occurred on North Eighth Street.

An officer assisted another agency with a gas leak on West Wyoming Avenue.

An officer assisted another agency with a fire on Myrtle Avenue.

Vandalism occurred on South Third Street.

June 30 —Suspicious circumstances were reported on South Seventh Street. A subject reported someone rang the doorbell and rattled the handrails.

An officer assisted another agency on North Eighth Street by assisting the Department of Family Services with a home visit.

An officer initiated activity regarding suspicious circumstances at Basin Market on South Fourth Street.

An officer initiated activity at the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office (BHCSO) on Murphy Street.

An officer initiated activity at Big Horn Rural Electric on South Street regarding an informational call.

A livestock incident was reported on U.S. Highway 16/20 involving an animal that was stuck in a fence.

An officer initiated Community Relations activity at Riverside Middle/High School on West B Street.

A R.E.D.D.I. Report occurred at mile post 191 on U.S. 16/20.

July 1 — An officer initiated activity regarding an abandoned vehicle at Valley Hardware on South Fourth Street.

A lost/found domestic animal incident was reported on C Street involving a stray animal.

A domestic animal incident was reported at Basin Market on South Fourth Street involving a small black and brown long-haired puppy weighing approximately 15 pounds.

An officer assisted the Department of Family Services on Second Avenue North.

July 2 — A citizen complaint occurred on North Eighth Street.

An officer assisted the general public at Basin Boat Ramp on East B Street.

A lost property incident was reported on North Fourth Street.

An officer assisted a Converse County request.

An officer initiated activity at Mountain Mechanics on South Fourth Street regarding a possible fraud. The incident was determined not to be fraud but involved a suspicious vehicle.

A citizen complaint occurred at the BHCSO on Murphy Street.

July 3 — Property damage occurred at South Fourth Street and A Street involving a vehicle collision with a power pole. A citation was issued.

An officer assisted another agency at the BHCSO on Murphy Street.

A domestic animal incident was reported near milepost 197 on North Fourth Street involving a large brown dog with a collar near the highway on the east side. The dog was unable to be located.

July 4 — A missing person incident was reported on North Seventh Street involving a 5-year-old boy. The juvenile was last seen inside the residence approximately 20–30 minutes prior to being reported missing. The juvenile was located safe.

A fire was reported on Cemetery Road involving a gravel pit fire.

July 5 — An officer assisted the general public at the Basin Police Department.

An officer initiated Community Relations activity at Riverside Middle/High School on West B Street.

An officer assisted the general public on South Sixth Street. The subject reported being in “one of his moods.”

• Sheriff's Report

The following calls were received by the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office: (Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the Court:

June 29 - 1:50 a.m.: A loud vehicle was reported driving around on North Sherman Avenue in Manderson. The reporting party stated they did not have their contacts in and could not tell if the vehicle was a motorcycle or a truck, later calling to report it had not returned. 

11:45 a.m.: A lost license plate was reported on Highway 20 South in Basin. 

June 30 - 10:10 a.m.: Lost property, a Basin Volunteer Fire Department pager was turned in from Basin Market at South Fourth Street in Basin. 

11:32 a.m.: Missing property was reported to Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office on Murphy Street in Basin, part of a civil dispute in which a couple was dividing their property. 

12:19 p.m.: A fire alarm on East Street in Basin was handled by dispatch.

10:27 p.m.: A R.E.D.D.I. report was made on Highway 20 South, cleared by patrol. 

July 1 - 5:09 p.m.: BHCSO assisted Greybull Police Department at Three Rivers Health on Highway 30 in Basin. 

July 2 - 12:14 p.m.: A traffic hazard was reported on Highway 433 in Manderson. 

2:33 p.m.: A white dump truck was reported with its gate open on Highway 20 South in Manderson, officers were unable to locate. 

6:27 p.m.: BHCSO dispatch assisted Douglas Police Department. 

July 3 - 12:03 p.m.: Fireworks were reported to Greybull Police Department on South Fifth Street in Greybull. 

8:49 p.m.: A cow was reported grazing off Highway 20 South in Manderson. 

9:17 p.m.: An officer removed debris from Highway 20 South in Manderson. 

July 4 - 1:01 a.m.: An accident notification from a cell phone was reported unfounded on Highway 14 in Shell, a response unit was cancelled. 

7:34 a.m.: A BHCSO unit to assist Basin Police Department on North Seventh Street in Basin was cancelled. 

8:50 a.m.: A citation was issued in a traffic stop on Highway 31 in Manderson. 

1:50 p.m.: A civil situation was reported on Highway 30 in Basin in which a divorcing couple was arguing over marital property. 

4:47 p.m.: An extra patrol was conducted at Wardell Reservoir on Lane 49 in Burlington. 

5:54 p.m.: An extra patrol was conducted at Harrington Reservoir on Road 16.5 in Otto. 

8:56 p.m.: An extra patrol was conducted at the Nyberg Residence on Highway 30 in Basin. 

10:40 p.m.: A wildland fire was reported on Road 26 in Greybull, found to be a controlled bonfire. 

10:56 p.m.: A wildland fire was reported on Cemetery Road in Greybull, the reporting party had it controlled before firefighters could assist. 

11:19 p.m.: A fire was reported on Cemetery Road in Greybull, which burned to about the size of a football field before Greybull Volunteer Fire Department subdued it. 

11:20 p.m.: BHCSO dispatch assisted Washakie County. 

July 5 - 12:08 a.m.: BHCSO dispatch assisted a BLM ranger looking to identify a male subject.
