• Police Report

The following calls were received by the Basin Police Department last week (Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney):

September 16 — An noise ordinance violation was given on Crescent Drive. 

A VIN inspection was done at the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office (BHCSO).

A VIN inspection was done at the Big Horn County Courthouse.

A business check was done at the Overland Express Mart.

Officer did a welfare check on a man sitting outside the Security State Bank sweating profusley.

September 17 — Resident on Crescent Drive request to speak to officer on duty.

Officer did a welfar check on South Fifth Street for woman not answering phone all morning.

Police officer assisted someone at the Overland Express Mart.

Accident occurred at Laura Irwin Elementary school.

A building check was done at the Basin Town Hall.

September 19 — A report of a sheep dog on  US Hwy 16/20.

A VIN inspection was done at South Seventh Street.

Two VIN inspections were done at BHCSO.

Accident with property damage occurred on West B Street.

Basin PD assisted the Big Horn County Sheriff at the building

Extra patrol was done at the Basin Town Hall.

Extra foot patrol was done on North Fourth and C Street

September 20 — A VIN inspection was done at BHCSO.

A report of larceny was taken at the BHCSO.

Extra patrol was done at the School.

September 21  — Community relations was initiated by the Basin PD at the Big Horn County Fairgrounds.

Livestock was on the highway at Hwy 16/20 S and the Golf Course Road.

Extra patrol was done at the School.

A building check was done at the Basin Town Hall.

A business check was done at the Overland Express Mart.

September 22 — An officer assisted a motorist on Wyoming Hwy 30

Assisted the general public on North Eighth Street.

Resident on South Sixth Street contacted the police about black packages being delivered to their house and would like the owner of them found.

Resident on South Eighth Street had a water pipe burst and needed water shut off as soon as possible.

An ordinance enforcement violation was given at the one hundredth block of C Street.

Extra patrol was done at the Basin School.

• Sheriff's Report

Sept. 16 — 10:11 a.m.: A VIN inspection occurred in Basin.

3:13 p.m.: Deputies initiated a traffic stop in Burlington. A citation was issued.

4:30 p.m.: A traffic complaint was received in Emblem.

4:30 p.m.: Grady Gerritt Swiftney, of Greybull, was arrested for driving under the influence, with an open container of an alcoholic beverage, possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a deadly weapon, reckless endangerment involving a firearm and aggravated assault and battery.

4:53 p.m.: A VIN inspection occurred in Otto.

6:35 p.m.: A missing dog was reported in Shell. It was described as a female red heeler with an orange collar.

7:51 p.m.: In Burlington, a controlled burn burned out of control.

8:08 p.m.: An injured deer was reported in Burlington.

8:57 p.m.: An abandoned vehicle was reported in Manderson.

10:07 p.m.: A wildland fire was reported in Ten Sleep.

Sept. 17 — 1:26 a.m.: Deputies initiated a traffic stop in Basin. A citation was issued.

12:51 p.m.: Deputies assisted a motorist in Basin.

1:29 p.m.: Deputies conducted a business check in Greybull.

2:18 p.m.: A rapid SOS ping was received in Manderson.

3:31 p.m.: A VIN inspection occurred in Shell.

4:52 p.m.: A power line was knocked down in Burlington.

7:19 p.m.: Deputies participated in community relations in Basin.

8:43 p.m.: Deputies initiated a traffic stop in Greybull. A warning was issued.

9:15 p.m.: Deputies assisted another agency in Greybull.

Sept. 18 — 9:44 a.m.: A VIN inspection occurred in Greybull.

10:10 a.m.: Rocks were reported on the roadway in Shell.

11:18 a.m.: An accident with property damage was reported in Shell.

11:31 a.m.: A scam was reported in Burlington.

8:40 p.m.: Deputies initiated a traffic stop in Basin. A warning was issued.

Sept. 19 — 8:23 a.m.: A member of the public requested information from deputies concerning children’s car seats.

10:28 a.m.: Deputies initiated a traffic stop in Burlington. A citation was issued.

12:37 p.m.: Deputies responded to a parked trailer exceeding time limits on BLM.

1:43 p.m.: A VIN inspection occurred in Hyattville.

4:07 p.m.: A scam was reported in Burlington.

5:46 p.m.: Deputies initiated a traffic stop in Greybull. A warning was issued.

8:12 p.m.: Deputies responded to an alarm triggered in Basin.

Sept. 20 — 12:20 a.m.: Deputies received a barking dogs complaint in Basin.

5:01 a.m.: Deputies responded to reports of suspicious circumstances in Burlington.

8:46 a.m.: A rapid 9-1-1 was received in Shell.

9:09 a.m.: Deputies responded to suspicious circumstances in Greybull.

9:37 a.m.: A VIN inspection occurred in Basin.

9:38 a.m.: Deputies responded to reports of suspicious circumstances in Basin.

10:00 a.m.: Deputies participated in community relations.

10:46 a.m.: Deputies initiated a traffic stop in Manderson. A warning was issued.

11:47 a.m.: A traffic complaint was received in Basin.

1:05 p.m.: Deputies assisted a motorist in Burlington.

3:23 p.m.: A VIN inspection occurred in Basin.

5:16 p.m.: A sheepdog was found in Basin.

7:27 p.m.: Deputies assisted a motorist in Greybull.

7:38 p.m.: Deputies initiated a traffic stop in Greybull. A citation was issued.

8:03 p.m.: A traffic complaint was received in Greybull.

8:22 p.m.: Deputies initiated a traffic stop in Manderson. A warning was issued.

Sept. 21 — 11:07 a.m.: A VIN inspection occurred in Shell.

4:32 p.m.: Deputies assisted another agency.

6:33 p.m.: Deputies initiated a traffic stop in Basin. A warning was issued.

6:42 p.m.: An accidental 9-1-1 call was received in Emblem.

6:59 p.m.: Deputies assisted a motorist in Greybull.

10:15 p.m.: Deputies conducted a business check in Greybull.

10:31 p.m.: A traffic complaint involving a semi-truck was received in Greybull.

10:40 p.m.: Deputies initiated a traffic stop in Greybull. A citation was issued.

Sept. 22 — 12:03 a.m.: A car accident was reported in Greybull.

12:04 a.m.: A deer was hit and injured by a vehicle in Greybull.

8:25 a.m.: Deputies initiated a traffic stop in Basin. A warning was issued.

9:34 a.m.: Deputies initiated a traffic stop in Greybull. A warning was issued.

1:24 p.m.: Deputies assisted another agency.

2:32 p.m.: Deputies initiated a traffic stop in Emblem. A warning was issued.

9:15 p.m.: Deputies assisted another agency.

11:05 p.m.: Deputies conducted a business check in Greybull.
