 • Police Report 

The following calls were received by the Basin Police Department last week (Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney): 

June 24 — A VIN inspection was done at the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office (BHCSO). 

Business check was done at the Overland Express Mart. 

Extra patrol was done at the school. 

June 25 — Cattle were reported near the US Highway 14/16/20. 

An officer provided assistance at Saam Veterinary Clinic. 

A practice fire alarm drill was conducted at the Wyoming Retirement Center (WRC). 

An officer provided assistance at the Basin Police Department. 

Business check was done at the Family Dollar. 

Extra patrol was done at the school. 

June 26 — A cow was out on Wyoming Highway 31. 

A report was taken regarding two bottles of vodka stolen from the Overland Express Mart. 

A VIN inspection was done at the Big Horn County Fairgrounds. 

Wallet was found on South Fifth Street. 

Two VIN inspections were done at the BHCSO. 

Resident on Montana Avenue reported a racoon in his yard. 

An officer initiated community relations at Riverside Middle High School. 

An officer provided assistance at the Basin Police Department. 

A VIN inspection was done on North Seventh Street. 

Business check was done at Basin Town Hall. 

Extra patrol was done at the school. 

Extra patrol was done at the raw water pond. 

June 27 — A VIN inspection was done at the WRC. 

A VIN inspection was done at BHCSO. 

A person was looking for information from Basin PD about tenting at the Basin Boat Ramp. 

June 28 — Three VIN inspections were done at the BHCSO. 

An officer initiated activity at Washington Park. 

A business check was done at the Overland Express Mart. 

An assault occurred on South Sixth Street. 

Extra patrol was done at the school. 

June 29 — Extra patrol was done at WRC. 

Extra patrol was done at Mount View Cemetery. 

Extra patrol was done at the school. 

Extra patrol was done at the Basin Boat Ramp. 

Business check was done at Basin Town Hall. 

An ordinance violation citation was issued on North Sixth Street. 

Extra patrol was done at WRC. 

A domestic disturbance on Montana Avenue was investigated.

June 24 — 10:24 a.m.: An accidental 9-1-1 was received from a residence in Burlington. 

1:06 p.m.: A VIN inspection occurred in Basin. 

3:09 p.m.: A rapid SOS ping was received in Burlington. 

3:20 p.m.: Another rapid SOS ping was received in Burlington. 

4:55 p.m.: Deputies received information from a party in Emblem. 

5:01 p.m.: Deputies were notified that traffic cones belonging to Highway Patrol have gone missing. 

6:05 p.m.: A rapid SOS was received in Otto. 

6:41 p.m.: Deputies assisted the general public in Burlington. 

6:42 p.m.: There was a follow-up to a dog bite case made at the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Offices in Basin (BHCSO). 

10:30 p.m.: A road hazard was reported in Greybull near Mile Point 203. 

10:34 p.m.: A business check was performed in Greybull. 

June 25 — 6:52 a.m.: Cattle were loose near the highway in Burlington. 

8:26 a.m.: A business check was performed in Basin. 

11:40 a.m.: Deputies received a fraud report from a party in Greybull. 

12:54 p.m.: A VIN inspection occurred at BHCSO. 

1:34 p.m.: Deputies were advised of dead wildlife on the highway near Greybull. 

1:56 p.m.: Deputies assisted the general public at BHCSO. 

2:18 p.m.: Deputies were advised that a fire drill was being performed at the Wyoming Retirement Center in Basin. 

4:11 p.m.: Deputies responded to reports of suspicious circumstances in Basin. 

5:58 p.m.: Deputies assisted a motorist at BHCSO. 

7:46 p.m.: A VIN inspection occurred in Burlington. 

8:11 p.m.: A traffic stop was initiated at Mile Point 206 on Highway 14-16-20. A warning was issued. 

June 26 — 9:01 a.m.: A traffic stop was initiated at Mile Point 6 on Highway 14-16-20. A citizen arrest ensued. 

11:31 a.m.: A VIN inspection occurred at BHCSO. 

1:22 p.m.: A welfare check was requested and later cancelled in Emblem. 

2:52 p.m.: A member of the public requested a civil standby in Basin. 

6:57 p.m.: Deputies were advised of a fire alarm test occurring at Three Rivers Hospital in Basin. 

7:43 p.m.: Deputies assisted a motorist broken down on Highway 14 at Shell Falls until assistance arrived. 

June 27 — 2:13 p.m.: A fire alarm was triggered at a property on Greybull Avenue. 

5:16 p.m.: A vehicle and deer went head-to-head at Mile Point 99 on Highway 14-16-20. 

8:36 a.m.: A calf was reported loose on Highway 32 in Emblem. The matter was referred to another agency. 

8:47 a.m.: Deputies were apprised of additional alarm testing at Three Rivers health in Basin. 

9:30 a.m.: Donald Christian Brown, of Manderson, was arrested, sentenced and serving time. 

11:28 a.m.: A welfare check was requested in Greybull. 

4:58 p.m.: A VIN inspection occurred at BHCSO. 

5:55 p.m.: Deputies participated in community relations in Basin at the rec center. 

6:03 p.m.: Deputies participated in community relations in Basin at the gun club. 

7:03 p.m.: A traffic stop as initiated at Mile Point 205 in Greybull. 

7:34 p.m.: Deputies assisted a motorist at Mountain Mechanics in Basin. 

8:34 p.m.: Deputies performed a business check in Greybull. 

8:39 p.m.: Deputies received information regarding a potential wildfire. 

June 28 — 12:38 a.m.: A traffic stop was initiated in Basin. Shelley Renee Hart, of Basin, was arrested on charges of driving with a blood alcohol content in excess of .08, improper lane usage, and failure to produce compulsory auto insurance. 

3:22 p.m.: A traffic stop was initiated in Otto. A warning was issued. 

5:25 p.m.: Deputies assisted another agency. 

7:19 p.m.: Deputies received a REDDI Report in Basin. 

7:37 p.m.: Deputies initiated a traffic stop in Manderson. A warning was issued. 

8:41 p.m.: A business check was performed in Greybull. 

9:00 p.m.: Deputies received a REDDI Report in Emblem. 

9:33 p.m.: Deputies responded to suspicious circumstances in Basin. 

10:00 p.m.: Deputies received reports of a pasture fire in greybull. 

11:05 p.m.: Deputies received a REDDI Report in Otto. Vitaliano Mendez Garcia, of Aberdeen, Wash., was arrested on charges of driving with a blood alcohol content in excess of .08 and driving with an open container of alcohol in his vehicle. 

11;47 p.m.: Deputies responded to a civil matter involving a neighbor making threats. 

June 29 — 12:30 a.m.: Deputies received a speeding complaint concerning a vehicle in Otto. 

1:21 a.m.: Deputies attempted to locate a horse and horse trailer in Manderson. 

2:33 a.m.: Deputies responded to the earlier pasture fire’s location when a hot spot flared again. 

3:35 a.m.: A traffic stop was initiated in Greybull. 

9:21 a.m.: Deputies received information from a member of the public in Otto. 

12:02 p.m.: A firearm was found in Hyattville. 

12:43 p.m.: Deputies assisted a motorist in Basin. 

2:10 p.m.: Deputies responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle near the water station in Manderson. 

2:46 p.m.: Deputies participated in community relations at the Big Horn County Fairgrounds. 

9:32 p.m.: A traffic stop was initiated in Greybull. A warning was issued. 

9:47 p.m.: Deputies assisted the public. 

9:56 p.m.: Deputies assisted another agency. 

June 30 — 1:30 a.m.: Deputies assisted the public. 

3:16 a.m.: Deputies made field contact in Basin. 

3:37 a.m.: Deputies were notified of a Search and Rescue (SAR) operation in Ten Sleep concerning a female hiker who was separated from her party. The hiker was ultimately found. 

10:17 a.m.: An open 9-1-1 call was received from the Wyoming Retirement Center. 

11:07 a.m.: An extra patrol was performed in Basin. 

11:12 a.m.: An open 9-1-1 call was received in Basin. 

4:52 p.m.: A cell phone was found and turned in at the Greybull Police Station. 

6:30 p.m.: A traffic stop was initiated in Greybull. A warning was issued. 

11:30 p.m.: A traffic stop was initiated in Greybull.
