• Police Report

The following calls were received by the Basin Police Department last week (Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and charges made upon initial arrest may be amended or dismissed as determined by the County Attorney):

May 11 —An officer assisted the general public at the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office on Murphy Street.

A hit and run accident occurred at Big Horn Basin Counseling Services on South Third Street

A domestic animal incident was reported involving a teacup Yorkie running at large. The dog was wearing a collar, although the color could not be determined. The animal was last seen headed past the processing plant.

May 12 — A civil standby was conducted at the Wyoming Retirement Center on U.S. Highway 16/20 South.

A larceny incident involving theft occurred at Basin Market on South Fourth Street.

A larceny incident involving petty theft occurred at Family Dollar on North Fifth Street.

A fire incident was reported on South Sixth Street after a bedroom reportedly smelled like smoke and the light would not turn on.

May 13 — A civil standby was requested on U.S. 16/20 South in Basin.

A citizen complaint was reported on C Street, and the information was taken.

A trespassing incident occurred on North Seventh Street, and a no-trespass order was issued.

May 14 — An officer initiated a community relations activity at Riverside Middle/High School on West B Street.

May 15 — A domestic dispute occurred at Mile Post 7 on Wyoming Highway 31.

An officer assisted another agency at Mile Post 7 on Wyoming 31.

A fire incident was reported on West B Street involving a leaking fire hydrant on the southwest corner of the address.

An officer assisted another agency on Golf Course Road regarding a black Ford pickup with Montana plates parked in the middle of the road. The reporting party advised a woman was sitting in the passenger seat crying, and the driver was no longer on scene.

An officer assisted another agency with GPD at Greybull River Park on Greybull Avenue.

A R.E.D.D.I. report occurred at Mile Post 203 on Highway 16/20 South.

A citizen complaint occurred on Wyoming Highway 30.

May 16 — A property damage incident occurred on South Ninth Street.

An officer initiated community relations activity at Big Horn Fairgrounds on Holdrege Avenue.

An officer assisted the general public on W Wyoming Avenue.

May 17 — An officer assisted the general public on North Eighth Street.

An officer assisted the general public on North Eighth Street.

An officer assisted the general public on North Eighth Street.

A larceny incident occurred on Big Horn Avenue.

An officer initiated a community relations activity at Riverside Middle/High School on West B Street.

A citizen complaint occurred on E Street.

May 11 - 12:06 a.m.: Suspicious circumstances were reported on North Sherman Avenue in Manderson, cleared by patrol. 

2:25 p.m.: A property dispute was reported on Beaver Creek Road in Shell. 

5:53 p.m.: Sheep were reported out on Highway 20 South in Basin. 

5:53 p.m.: Dogs were reported attacking sheep on Lane 40 in Basin. 

8:11 p.m.: A citation was issued in a traffic stop on Highway 20 South in Basin. 

9:53 p.m.: A traffic hazard was reported on North Sixth Street in Greybull. 

May 12 - 9:22 a.m.: An erratic driver was reported on Highway 20 South in Manderson. 

11:03 a.m.:  Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office assisted Department of Family Services at Burlington Schools on School Avenue in Burlington. 

12:20 p.m.: Officers gave a presentation at Burlington Schools on School Avenue in Burlington. 

4:01 p.m.: BHCSO assisted Basin Police Department at Big Horn County Library on C Street in Basin. 

4:49 p.m.: An officer assisted a motorist on Highway 20 South in Basin. 

5:02 p.m.: BHCSO assisted Highway Patrol on North Fourth Street in Basin. 

May 13 - 8:06 a.m.: Two cows were reported on Highway 14/16/20 by the rest area in Greybull. 

8:19 a.m.: Cows were reported sneaking under the fence on Highway 14/16/20. 

10:55 a.m.: A fire reportedly flared up on Road 17 in Otto. 

11:10 a.m.: A suspicious person was reported on Highway 14 in Greybull, officers were unable to locate. 

12:28 p.m.: A dog was reported loose on Highway 14/16/20 in Emblem. 

1:25 p.m.: A haystack was reported on fire on Road 17 in Otto. 

4:02 p.m.: Cows were reported out on Lane 39 in Otto, officers were unable to locate. 

7:04 p.m.: Theft was reported on Lane 49.5 in Manderson. 

8:27 p.m.: Tree branches were reported as a traffic hazard on Highway 32 in Emblem. 

May 14 - 8:13 a.m.: A R.E.D.D.I. report was made on Highway 20 South in Basin, officers were unable to locate. 

8:50 a.m.: A hunting complaint on John Blue Canyon Road was referred to another agency. 

9:10 a.m.: A civil matter regarding the Shell Canal was reported on Highway 14 in Greybull. 

12:24 p.m.: A controlled burn was reported on Highway 14 in Shell. 

2:53 p.m.: A livestock issue was reported on Lane 39 in Otto. 

7:44 p.m.: BHCSO assisted Greybull Police Department at Thirteenth Avenue North and North Seventh Street. 

9:45 p.m.: A goat reportedly ran away from its owner on Basin Garden Road in Basin. 

May 15 - 6:47 a.m.: Livestock was reported out at Highway 310 and Highway 20 in Greybull. 

11:21 a.m.: A trailer flipped on its side was reported on Highway 32 in Emblem. 

3:56 p.m.: A domestic dispute was reported on Highway 31 in Manderson. 

6:56 p.m.: A black Ford pickup with Montana plates was reported parked in the middle of Golf Course Road in Basin, cleared by patrol. 

7:53 p.m.: Livestock were reported out on Highway 14/16/20 in Greybull. 

9:48 p.m.: BHCSO assisted Greybull PD at Greybull River Park on Greybull Avenue in Greybull. 

10:49 p.m.: A R.E.D.D.I. report was made on Highway 20 South in Greybull, cleared by patrol. 

May 16 - 10:33 a.m.: Three cows were reported out near Highway 31 in Manderson. 

3:28 p.m.: The possible mistreatment of animals was reported on Lane 49.5 in Manderson. 

4:29 p.m.: Sheep were reported out at Highway 310 and Highway 20 in Greybull. 

5:52 p.m.: A traffic complaint was made on Highway 433 in Manderson, officers were unable to locate. 

11:17 p.m.: A traffic hazard was reported on Highway 30 in Basin, with branches on the road.

May 17 - 6:45 a.m.: Overdue hunters were reported in Sheridan County, the call was transferred to another agency. 

9:27 a.m.: Sheep were reported in the middle of Highway 30 South in Manderson. 

9:30 p.m.: A burglary alarm at Security State Bank on South Fourth Street in Basin was cleared by patrol. 

9:35 p.m.: BHCSO assisted Basin PD at Security State Bank on South Fourth Street in Basin.  

ARRESTS

Christopher Chadwick of Cowley was arrested Wednesday, May 13 in Basin for a bond violation, released the same day. 

Matthew Paul Went of Basin was arrested Thursday, May 14 in Cheyenne on a Big Horn County probation violation, to serve 127 days.
