What are our children

What are our children? What are those things we receive as a seed in our lives, meditate on, envision, work toward until we have brought forth progeny and sought to raise it in our image by our nurture? 

Words are the evidence of ideas conceived in the heart (Romans 10:10 “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation”. From Luke 1:38 “And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word,” and meditated on. Genesis 11:6 “And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do” spoken into existence. Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks in Matthew 12:34 and Luke 6:45. Then developed into reality. Romans 4:17 “As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations, before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.” 

Some people may have an education as their child. Others may have longed for a business or a profession (actor, singer, politician, etc.). What is the seed of your child you are presently nurturing in your imagination, your words and your actions?

Every child conceived and birthed must be loosed for it to become the thing imagined in our hearts. Like the prodigal son, it must be released in order to be returned. Matthew 10 speaks of letting go of those things we hold most dear sons, daughters even life itself must be released to return to us in its fullness. Romans 5 and 6 speak of death as the pathway to life itself. We are baptized into his death that we are raised to walk in newness of life. Having died with Christ we die also a death to sin but alive to God. 

We no longer allow sin to dominate our mortal bodies by yielding its passions. Instead having come from death to life, we offer our bodies tools for righteousness. We no longer strive to be physically good by our own strength but receive the grace of faith in the actions of Jesus Christ as our own. By obedience to God’s Word, we obtain the righteousness of Christ unto sanctification, holiness being set apart from the arrogance of our own choices and receiving the free gift of eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Perhaps we should reconsider the ideas and thoughts arriving in our minds and make some quality decisions about which ones we should retain, meditate on and allow to become part of our lives not flippantly accepting them as just the way we think. Let God’s Word examine each thought and bring it into the captivity of Christ Jesus, the Word made flesh. 2 Corinthians 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalted itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; Thoughts become words and words become actions. Let us choose wisely.
