Winter Festival brought families together for old fashioned fun
While no one took an exact count, many people came to the fairgrounds on Saturday for the annual Winter Festival. About 75 meals of chili, cookies and a drink were served by members of the fair board. The chili, made by Dominque and Tucker Mckim, was a hit. The ingredients for the chili were donated by Spear D Ranch, The Market, and Basin’s Market. Pepsi/Admiral Beverage and Country Bakery provided drinks and cookies. The main sponsors were Big Horn REA, Little Acres Meat Processing and Kay and Dave Neves. Additional sponsors were the Basin Area Chamber and the Big Horn County Newspapers (Basin Republican Rustler, Greybull Standard and Lovell Chronicle)
Preliminary numbers indicate $1,400 was raised before expenses. Fair board acting chair Rebecca Bates said that while the event was not as well attended as they had hoped, those who came had a great time. There were about 10 booths; two were provided by fair board members, two were FFA groups and the rest were 4-H clubs.
The cake walks and face painting booths were big hits.
