Wyo-Dirt opens downtown Greybull location
Wyo-Dirt recently had a grand opening to celebrate its new location in Wyld Sage Coffee House in Greybull.
Co-owner Mike Herebia explained his success story. “Just start. Be ready to work hard, learn from your challenges and be flexible. It doesn’t matter whether it works out or not; what’s important is that you give it a try and gain experience along the way.”
Herebia’s success story with his custom hat business underscores how far determination and a willingness to embrace challenges can take you.
Back in 2017 is where it all began. Impressed with a local brand of hats that were popular, Herebia, after much research, realized that regular people could start successful clothing brands by sourcing quality blanks and creating their own designs. 2018 marked the birth of Wyo Dirt with the sale of its first shirt.
Herebia, a 2010 Riverside High School graduate, started by working out of his garage with minimal equipment. Initially, he manually created designs and produced hats by himself. Transitioning into this new venture required Herebia to learn multiple skills, from design to production, while effectively managing the business aspects to keep customers satisfied.
Later an upgraded engraver was purchased which helped speed up production and allowed for more intricate designs.
By 2020, Herebia recognized the challenges of managing the growing demand for his business and knew it was time to bring in additional help. Josh Olsen joined the team as co-owner. In doing so, Herebia could continue to focus on his passion for the graphic and production aspects of the business, ensuring that the creative quality and craftsmanship remained top-notch. Olsen, with his expertise in marketing and customer communications, began enhancing the company’s online presence and engaging more effectively with the local community.
This collaboration allowed the business to tackle the increased demand efficiently, while also expanding its reach and ensuring customer satisfaction.
The team further expanded with the addition of Casey Hagstrom, their newest employee, who helps with hat production.
Today, Herebia is proud to provide a variety of hat styles and colors for both youth and adults. Each hat boasts unique designs engraved on either a leather or wood patch of the customer’s choice, including motifs such as a bison, the American flag, the Wyo Dirt logo, the 307 area code, and Wyoming’s iconic bucking horse to name a few.
Additionally, business owners have the option to customize hats with their own logos, making Herebia’s products a versatile choice for personal use, gifts or promotional items. Other items for sale include leather and wood stickers, decals and a few shirts.
The business grew enough they had to expand. Thus, the move to Wyld Sage. There you will find a variety of items including hats, beanies, shirts, stickers and decals available for purchase. “Our commitment to quality and personalization helps us build strong relationships with our clients,” Herebia said. “We take the time to understand exactly what they want, creating custom designs that resonate with them.”
Balancing a growing business and a busy family life can indeed be challenging for Herebia, who lives in Greybull with his wife Ana, two teens and one preteen who keep him busy with sports and other activities.
Olsen lives in Basin with his wife Jalissa and their five children, including a set of triplets. Olsen said it requires careful organization and support when juggling both work and family.
